This works well for my 3 britts. One was prone to jumping over a 4' chain link fence and to keep him safe, I needed an option that did not involve replacing that fence. This does the trick. I used the lowest level of stimulation (vibrate and tone) to train with while I was in the backyard and after a couple weeks, used the next lowest setting of stim to train for when they are in the backyard on their own. It does make all three respect the fence now.

I bought this product for our two dogs, we live on 60 acres and I wanted something customizable so we could fence off a two acre area around the house. I also bought an additional spool of wire. After the install (2 days of digging) it was all downhill. The system is accurate and with some training the dogs now know their boundaries. Great purchase!

I bought this from Gun Dog Supply because of their great support and product knowledge. I've bought other items from them with great support, that is the reason I always buy from them. I replaced an old in ground fence that served us well, but finally was dying. I installed the SportDog by using the existing loop wire from our old system. I started getting intermittent broken loop alarms. I called Gun Dog Supply and after trying a few things, they offered to get SportDog support involved. SportDog called and offered some advice and added my details to their records and said to call if I still have issues. I changed a connection in the loop wire and the system has been working for 48 hrs without alarming. Hopefully this is resolved.

This is an excellent device. It wasn't difficult to set up and the directions for training the dogs were easy to understand. It's been working great with our German Shorthaired Pointers. The best part is that it shipped the same day we ordered it, and it arrives the next day! I know we reside in the same state as Gun Dog Supply, so that may have been part of the short shipping time. But we're very satisfied with our purchase and would use GDS again if needed.

Works great. I used antenna wire and hung it along my fence line. It puts out a strong signal around three acres.

Our 8 month old Boxer escaped our chain link fence easily, despite several reinforcements of any weak areas in the fence. We were lucky to receive phone calls from people within a few miles, that our dog made his way to their houses. The In-ground fence system was our final effort to keep him in the yard even when we could not watch him. The package arrived in two days, and we followed the advice to have the dog wear the inactive collar for a week before any stimulation came through it. Once a week had passed, and the fence activated, we followed the training suggestions in the manual that came with the fence. We ended up with the collar set on the first level of shock for a beautiful response from the dog. He does not even try to go close to the flags, and enjoys running in the safe area in the yard! We are amazed that this has worked so well. It has saved our dog, as this was the last chance before having to find him a new home. Prior to ordering this in ground fence system, we were quite skeptical about its success. What really convinced us to try this was the 30-day return policy if it did not work out.

First used on my labrador retriever puppy when he was 12 weeks old. Because he continued to follow my older dog across the road, we decided to install an in-ground fence. The first hit is all it took. When he hears the beeping, he stops dead in his tracks. I like how you can adjust the range. Easy installation.

I just bought my second one for my in-laws house. To keep their dog out of the barn where he doesn't belong. Also so when I take my two dogs to their house I can let them run like they are at home with no worries.

I put it around my existing fence because he was jumping over it. He has not jumped it since I installed it.

I can't believe how fast my dogs have learned the boundary of their area. They respond to the warning beep (that I can't hear but they do) and have only been actually corrected 2 or 3 times in this first week. They stayed on the deck and pouted after their first encounter but within a day or two they figured it out and they are happy again.

I've had the system for a while and my kids finally were able to install it on Mother's Day. It is amazing, Jax is very aware of it and it keeps him in our yard. I really love it!!

This has worked well for our Great Pyrenees. We use it around five acres, and although one of these giants took more time to train than the other, both have accepted the boundaries and are happy in them. Make sure you take the time to train your dogs using the training manual. That helped so much with the stubborn one.

The only thing is that I wish I could buy the system and specify the wire size, 20 gauge is too small.

Seems fine, but the buckle collar is a pain. It doesn't look like it will be easy to switch.

One very important thing about electronic dog fences that should be stated up front is this: The electronic collar must be off the dog 12 hours out of every 24 hours. This means you must have another system to contain your dog. I was unaware of this when I bought this product. My property has no fences and is on a busy main road. I am now getting bids for a chain link fence for my front yard.

I was a little worried about how this would all come together, but let me tell you, best decision I've ever made. So much better than traditional fence, and the biggest thing I was concerned about was how effective it would be in containing my dogs especially with distractions such as wildlife, etc. The level settings on the collars works wonders, and I thought I'd have to use level 4 or 5, but found that both of my labs were fine on 1 and 2, which is nice. The training book of getting them used to the boundary zones was helpful, and now it's so nice to watch them hang in the yard and know the limit of where they can go.

So far it's working great.

Working great so far. Using it for about a month. Replaced PetSafe Wireless that didn't work for our German Shepherd.

Original collar had the light on even when the dog was in the house and had not triggered the system. Called the 1-800 number, and they swapped it out.

My dog was trained in two days. He has not left the yard since. I even fooled him with white flags around flower beds with no wire, and he stays out of them now. I LOVE SPORT DOG SYSTEM.

Worked just fine.

Installation was difficult due to our rugged terrain, but once installed, it is working well. And the dogs were easily trained to it--much quicker than I thought. I like that you can adjust the different collars for the individual temperament of the dog.

Product is as advertised, and the extra spool of wire is nice if you have a larger piece of property. Installation was simple, took approx 1 day to do an acre lot. So far our dog is staying within the boundary. Still waiting to see what happens when she sees a rabbit.

Kamy is a very energetic 8 month Lab who was constantly testing us; getting at the cats, barking at the door, trying to run off, and looking for things to chew on that aren't her toys. She is a different dog since putting in this fence. More calm and relaxed. We can throw ball with her, and she can run as much as she wants without having to be on a leash. She gets the exercise she needs while having fun, and we have the peace of mind that she won't run off and come into harm or get lost. She learned the boundaries quickly. We followed the training instructions, and she's done great. We have the collar set to the lowest setting; I think it is a 1, and that was all she needed. One reminder and she doesn't even go near the edge of our property. We feel this was a very good investment.

This product was fairly simple to install. The best advice I can give someone who is installing this product is to put batteries in the collar and lay out the fence before you start burying it and actually hook it up and test it. While you are burying the wire, continuously test the collar so that when/if the loop is disrupted, you know where to start looking for accidental damage in the wire. This is a great product and it has allowed our lab to stay out in the yard while we are at work so he can run off some of that energy that young labs have.

Wish it had a less clunky collar receiver option

We actually have this same system at two locations. I LOVE it. It has been very reliable and easy to use. The dog trained easily to it and is very happy to have the run of the yard, which this allows while keeping him safe from traffic and wandering. Gun Dog Supply has been great to work with, and helpful when the radio fence we purchased thru them did not work for our terrain. I would recommend the product and company to anyone, and I have! :-)

It was very hard and time consuming to keep the twisted wire from rolling back on itself, and becoming tangled before I could get it in the ground. I still believe the wired systems are better overall than the wireless ones however. By the way, this brand fence system is really nice with all the right features and is much higher quality than anything else on the market. You wont be disappointed by any cheap parts or low tech construction when you open the box. Great product!

I have had this product at my home and operating for over 5 years. It contains my dogs on an acre of land. I have even acquired extra receiver collars for guest dogs. I am very pleased with it's performance and only had problems with it once when the wire conducted a lightening strike into the control box. You can't blame the unit for Mother Nature. Sport Dog was great and had a new box shipped to me right away at a very reasonable charge. I now have extra lightening protection to prevent this from occurring again. I would and have highly recommend this product to anyone who wishes to contain their dogs on their property.
