Bought this for a stubborn dog, put it on him, he got out of sight and wouldn't come, I shocked him once in a low setting, he yelp. I called twice he showed up in less than twenty seconds. I have rarely had to use it since then. His hearing has greatly improved

With the SD-825X Training Collar, I was able to get my 11 month old Aussie-Doodle to stop running the local deer population and any horse or cow she comes across. She now hears and obeys my commands. It is small and light. The collar is very programable . In the 1-7 stimulation mode just be aware that level 1 is still quite hot. I found it necessary to program to one of the modes with 21 levels of stimulation. Even then the low level one does get the puppies ( 7 month old English setter ) attention. That said with a little practice and reading the directions several times the collar is easy to understand and works well

This is an absolute must have piece of equipment for training stubborn dogs. I bought one for my last dog and it lasted 10 years. I like the new one better as it is very easy to use as a result of design changes to the controls. The book and video that come with it provide all the information you need to use the collar correctly and train your dog the right way.

Long battery life, easy to switch mode, easy to use remote, works great on my lab. They send a nice info book on how to train your dog with the collar. So far mine went from not bringing the bumper back to 100 yard retrieves right to my hand.

This is a great collar that I use daily on my house beagles. Sometimes we’re out most of the or just a few minutes to use the restroom. My old I used for many years without fail. This new one has the same great features with added distance. I would recommend this collar to anyone. Very easy to use and stays charged very nice.

Bought this to train a new puppy I will bring home in November. Great product! Easy to use and is very effective. My daughter & I have been using the GunDOG collar on her labs. One responds to just the beep and the other has to be up high in the shock zone. That’s what I like about this collar. You can fine tune the settings to your dog’s sensitivity.

I would highly recommend this product to every dog owner and encourage everyone to watch the training video. It is incredibly effective in training a dog and amazing the results and how fast the dog learns and obeys. This collar has allowed my dog to be off leash at a young age and run freely and gives me the confidence that he will come back when called. Young puppy, 4 mos. old and was tentative in using an E-collar on him but being close to a road I wanted assurance he would come when called. I don't let my dogs run loose but several times a week take them for long walks and allow them the freedom to run under my supervision. I set it on vibration and after our first session he responded to whistle with immediate straight line returning to me. I've only had to repeat it on two different occasions when he hesitated and both times the correction was successful and have not needed further reinforcement. I live adjacent to a mix of woods and brush country and have let him explore with me and even when out of site he responds immediately to the whistle.

I have 13 acres and a new young retriever. The collar has worked to get her back after wandering and a great training tool.

I had the older 2 collar model for about 7 years and those collar on/off buttons finally wore out and would no longer work. My 2 Great Pyrenees mix sisters were trained on the older model which had the tone function. I added a third collar few years ago when I adopted anotherdog( not a Pyr) . That newer collar still works) . It worked well for him as well. That 3rd dog has since passed and I adopted a purebred Pyr so I ordered the full set for 3 dogs . I mainly use them to call them back in the dark but only the vibrate function . I was skeptical as to whether the newest Pyr could be trained on it since she was a year old. ( my sisters were trained as pups ) but the vibrate did help her with recall. I also have invisible fence as well on 7 acres. It’s a great system when used with proper training . My purebred is more stubborn as far as wanting to come back so I have stopped using the collar on her.

I have not fully used the product yet, but I can say that Steve has great explanatory videos and Drew helped me choose the right product for my needs. I ordered and emailed what I needed the collars for and got a quick response letting me know I chose the right ones! The collars came with a wonderful booklet about e collar training. I am following the directions so we are still in the "wear the collar without turning it on" phase. And the "make the collar fun" phase! I will soon be moving into using it to help my boys have their best beach behavior and enjoy the summer as a family. One is really well behaved when a ball is involved, the other has no beach manners yet! One thing I found interesting in the booklet was the idea of using the tone as a reward rather than a warning. I am going to try it out and see how it works! My hope is that this will work for us and eventually we will not need the collars. I included a picture of the boys with their collars on!

I had a SportDOG e-collar years ago, but when looking for an e-collar to train my Airedale Terrier, I researched different brands and models before deciding on this one. I'm so glad I went with it! It may not be the most fancy one out there, but it works great and our pup responds well to it. I began using it when she was around 5 months old, training her on the leash so that she understands what the e-collar signals mean (this is very very important! The dog has to know what you are asking of her/him!). Two months later, she is great off leash and responds to my calls really well, mostly without even needing to use a nick or tone from the collar. I will say our pup is a very quick learner and generally very responsive, so I don't know how this collar would work for a more stubborn dog, but the previous SportDOG that I had was for a very stubborn Weimaraner, and it worked well for him. So far we have used this out in the field both pheasant and duck hunting, and it works great for that purpose. Also, we live on 3 unfenced, wooded acres, and we just have the collar on her when she's out alone, just in case she strays too far. That seldom happens, but if she doesn't come immediately when called (probably because she's found a tasty deer poop treat), just a nick on a low setting from the SportDOG brings her running home. We've had below 0˚ temperatures the past few days, and we've been out running/skiing in heavy snow. Yesterday when we got back from our run, I noticed that the collar receiver had an ice crust built up on part of it, but it was still working fine! The batteries hold a charge for a REALLY long time! I only charge the units once a week or so. They charge very quickly, and thus far this extremely cold weather doesn't seem to have affected the battery life. She's also worn it in the river with no problems, and I've dropped the transmitter in the snow and water and suffered no ill effects. Definitely waterproof! And as you can see in the pictures, the collar blends in well with the black fur, you can hardly tell she's wearing it!

Gundog Supply gave rapid quality service. The 825x has less range than my previous collar but I didn't notice the difference in the field. I like the handheld control and the collar worked fine. It's a bit smaller than my previous Sportdog collar which worked good for 6 years but that should make it easier on the dog.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of bells and whistles with this e-collar, however it seems to be very good quality. I like the on off button on the collar and the tone and vibration options are nice. Happy with it so far, although I haven't put it through any hunting situations yet. Time will tell.

This is a great collar. Easy to understand. The low,medium and high are all very different do u actually get 22 setting including beep. It’s feel good I’m the hand and works well.

Best thing I have bought in a long time my dog is young only about 4 months when I got it. And his behaviors have been much better. I have been able to take him out in the morning without a leash or the e-collar and know that he won't run off after his favorite animal. Mike

This has made a huge difference in my training program. Going from the bench to the field, the collar has allowed some real fine tuning and quickness of the dogs response to commands.

His response to 'here', 'down', and 'drop' were immediate during retrieving sessions on land and in the water. Just use level 2 and rarely have to give commands now. This will allow him to be a controlled and safe fishing and camping companion. Thanks

Great product, second one I have. GDS is my 'go to source' for all of my Weim's needs. Without exception they have proven to be quick, accurate, and professional in their service. USE THEM for your dog's needs. You simply won't find a better vendor.

I am very happy with it. I think the dial is a little hard to decipher clicks and changes in stimulus with gloves on without looking down at it. Also, I didn't realize until I read the manual when I got it that, when going to multi-dog collars it will only work continuous stim and not momentary. This would have been a deal breaker for me.

I am giving 5 stars, but I admit that I ordered a extra quick click fabric collar. The collar that comes with it is hard to buckle. The plastic is hard which may be great in the field but for less intense pet work. The choice of a collar style would be nice.

The SD 825 allows her freedom to roam while turning her attention to us immediately when we need it. Her recall has improved ten fold in the few days we've been using the collar and the Robin McFarland video was an invaluable addition to the overall package, offering a slightly different and, in my opinion, better methodology for implementing e collar stimulation with effective training technique.

I wish it had a one inch collar like my old Tritronic. It also has too many buttons. One buzzes, one beeps, and one stimulates. It works well overall so far.

We bought one last year for the new young dog, after he took off at the end of walk and went down to the town rec area to socialize. He was starting to refuse to come if there was another dog or walkers to play with. Collar was very effective with hardly any corrections, mostly just having the collar on and an occasional beep does the trick, on rare occasions, one correction. We bought this second one for our daughter. She does lots of long hikes, and worries about her otherwise obedient dog taking off on a scent and forgetting his voice command.

It works well for him. He is very hard headed and especially when he is at what he thinks is a safe distance from me! With the collar I tell him no, and when he does not listen he gets a warning! I have horses, so I don't want him chasing Nehemiah and biting their legs!

The SportDOG SportHunter SD-825 is an excellent training tool. Fortunately, the collar is waterproof as Willie loves to leap into the swimming pool several times a day.

Works like a charm! I've only had to use the electric stim a few times. Mostly the vibration is enough to get his attention. This dog is more obedient now even with the collar off. The dog swims in canals and water tanks every day and no problems with the unit.

Very nice collar. I purchased this collar based on my trainer's recommendation. If you are only going to run one waterfowl dog, this collar is perfect.

Great product! The vibrate feature is way too soft though. I wish there was an option to increase the intensity. My dog doesn't even notice it. I was pretty disappointed because I had planned on using that feature. The charger is a little difficult to plug into the transmitter and receiver, and the covers for the ports are too. Other then that, this product is excellent! I'm glad I bought it.

We have been training our 5 month old English Setter for about a week on this e-collar. Am very pleased with it. The factory setting range was medium, which even at a 1 was too strong for our dog, which has a pretty mild temperament. So we switch it to the low range setting and have found that 1, 2, and 3 seem to work well depending on the situation and what we are working on. There were 2 DVD's sent with the collar and we found them helpful to watch both of them, even though the training methods/philosophies don't align completely. The collar provides a sense of security that if she wanders too far from the house, it reinforces our command to come. Overall, love it and can't imagine trying to train without it. Looking forward to using it in the woods as well for bird hunting in the fall.
