Invest your 2 bucks in a higher quality whistle. The pee in this whistle starts to stick due to spit after a short time of using it. It rains a bit here in the Pacific Northwest so that additional moisture just adds to the issues with this whistle. Once it gets wet and cold here, I'm certain it'll render this whistle inoperable.
While training my dog or while she's working, I have a tendency to hold the whistle in my mouth. To keep it in place I have to use my teeth. I've had this whistle for maybe 1 month and it's already cracked. I noticed the pee sticking before it cracked.

The rubbery band around the whistles mouth piece keeps it in your mouth so it doesn’t slip out. It’s affordable so I picked up a couple so I could have an extra one.

I have used this whistle model for years to control and recall my bird dog in heavy grouse by holding the rubber guarded stem between my teeth and what I call whisperer whistling to keep my grouse dog apprised of my location.

I tend to misplace or lose them, so i bought several to put in strategic locations.
My chocolate lab, likes to sneak away, but responds quickly to the whistle.

I am a little disappointed in this whistle. The tone has gone out after only a few weeks of using it. It is very cheap though, so I would recommend buying several to keep as back-ups.
