Solid sturdy dog Boot however difficult to attach to dogs feet
January 30, 2024
This is the second set of dog boots from Lewis, the first was a set of vented boots that were given to me, I attached the boots as instructed by the online video instructions and the first hunt lost one of the boots. I mistakenly used the vented boots in ice and snow and soon learned the boot filled up with snow, dirt etc. The boots were also very tight on the top making them quite difficult to put on my dog.
I then ordered the non vented boots and found them again to be quite difficult to get on the dogs foot. I used the dog boots for one hunt and while they did stay on his feet, he seemed to develop a slight limp on one of his feet. I am not sure why, but actually wondered if the boot could be pressing on his nails and causing discomfort. I know that dog boots are something that we need sometimes, it just appears to me given the structure of the dogs foot, it is something that can be difficult and may just be how it is.

These boots are awesome. I run my dogs in the rocks during bird season and they don’t come up with sore feet well worth the money.

They are a pain to put on and no wet traction
January 24, 2023
There's no two ways about it, they're a pain to put on. GunSupply's video recommending duct tape was helpful, but for long haired dogs you end up tearing hair out, so I had to first back with vet wrap, then their duct tape method. They are a very durable boot. but they also provide almost zero traction. They may be great for flat lands but not for steep rocky yet slick with snow, chukar terrain.

These boots were made for walkin

First dog boot purchase, so take that as you will. I will impressed out of the box. I clip my dogs nails myself, and no issue at all getting these on him either. On concrete he walked around awkward but as soon as we were in the field he couldn't care less. I'd say they are a little loud, but protect his feet well. He had a pad injury and after a week I let him rabbit hunt in these and it worked out great. Plan to use these in icy snow and likely get a vented pair for sandbur protection.

Still working out the execution but great protection!

I purchased these for running my springers in rougher cover like cattails and near barb wire after my older girl got a decent sized slice in the top of one of her toes. I initially tried the sticky side out gorilla tape with gorilla tape on the outside but found it was too much work to get them off and then get the tape out of the boots when we were done. I have since switched to prewrap on their legs and then gorilla taping to that but it’s been difficult getting the tape to wrap their ankles smoothly without puckering. I may try some other tapes to see if it will smooth out but after running them several days in these boots in nasty cover they came out with perfect paws and no sore feet so we’re all happy about that.
One thing I would say is that washing the boots according to the directions from Lewis increases the gorilla tape adhesion to an almost unnecessary level making the tape impossible to remove. I left one pair unwashed and the tape sticks well but then actually pulls off the rubber once we’re done.
I also carry a pair of bandage scissors in my pup first aid kit which makes removal from their paws super easy. I haven’t left them on for a whole day as it’s not too bad getting the girls to stand and install and I don’t want them having trench foot conditions in there. Their paws have been wet every time we get done with a field so I remove to make sure they get a chance to dry. Just something to keep an eye on.

You won't find better boots
February 16, 2021
I have run these on a few dogs now, and they are the best boots available. Durable, difficult to cut or puncture, and when they are put on right they just won't come off! I run my dogs in the upper midwest in winter, so I went without vents so my dogs don't have to stop and chew the ice out of their toes. I did have some vented ones, and the holes are small, but show pushes up in no time.
Once you have put them on a dozen times with duct tape, it doesn't take long but they do require the time to do it right

An excellent boot for hunting
February 1, 2021
I am glad I purchased these boots for my GSP. Whether hunting in fields layered in burrs & stickers or cacti plants, my dog just keeps going. I have had been using the same boots for the past 2 years with my dog putting over 200 miles on them and they still have tread remaining on them. They are a bit of work to put on, but once on, they stay on and the dog will run all day in them.

These are great boots. First time or two takes longer than you'd like but after that, it's pretty easy. Steve says don't use cheap duck tape, I second that. And watch his video. One of my setters had a sore foot from a cut and stitches, she wore the boots for an entire day of hunting and I couldn't see a difference in her gait, and she wasn't sore when we got done.

Don't leave home without em, especially if you plan on hunting for several days, it can really wreck a hunt when you realize that your dog's pads are all cut or sliced, or that they are raw from the conditions in the field.

Very good product. Correct installation is critical. Where we hunt in SW KS they are a must. Nothing on the market is as durable and protective. Strongly suggest buying two pairs for each dog in the event of boot loss during hunt.

They work great. Stayed on the whole time. My dog got used to them right away. Now she can run around the snow and ice with no issues. Use some old socks to keep the tape off the fur. Takes a few minutes to put on, but worth the effort. :)

These are amazing. I'm about to buy my 2nd pair. My dog loves them! I taught her as a pup that wearing these are normal. They're not hard to install. Wrap leg, duct tape boot and wrap to leg=Done! I can boot my dog in less than 5 minutes (no exaggeration). It's totally worth the extra 5 minutes so you dog's foot doesn't split or get cut or break a nail.

I have a pair over 10 yrs old and still in good shape. Bonus use dampen fur( damp fur won't stick to tape) then use duct tape to secure dry boots for swimming. Dogs ( 70 lbs) can swim in pool without scratching kids. Almost daily use for swimming.

Toughest boot out there. Simple to use, easy to trim to fit. Simply wrap dogs ankle/leg with vet tape (stretch adhesive), wrap with duct tape backwards (sticky side out), put on boot, and tape with duct tape to above boot to prevent debris from getting in. works all day in the high desert, sage brush, lava rock and ice/snow.

Lasts longer than any other boot I've tried. Hard to put on and take off since there is no attachment included. Getting the adhesive tape on and off is a pain.
