It works!

This collar does what it is intended to do. It still requires patience and training, but our GSP learned pretty quickly how to remain comfortable. Heel! I do wish the brass ‘spikes’ on the inside were slightly shorter and a little thicker. However, in using this we have not noticed any ill effects with our dog. She will readily put her head in the collar.

I love this collar. I have a german sheppard and 2 goldens.
When I walked my sheppard with the chain looking pinch collar, she looks mean.
With this collar, she looks like a normal dog!

The collar is well built. The leather is wide and heavy. For my purposes, I wish it was a tad shorter from the buckle to the end. I ordered hoping I could use it as a tan so to speak and walk a pup to the line with it and let them go retrieve wearing the collar- in the yard only where no cover to snag is present. It is a bit too heavy and long for that application but works well for its intended purpose. It isn’t as aggressive as a prong collar. For timid pups, this is the ticket for those who want to pull on your lead but are a tad too timid for a prong collar. I don’t use it every day on every dog but it has a place in my tool box.

I’m very pleased with the quality of the collar and even more impressed with the customer service! I called once to confirm my shipping date and the gentleman on the phone was very friendly. It was a last minute order, so it wasn’t supposed to show up until the day I needed it, but then the next day I got my package (total of 3 days). I’ll definitely order from Gun Dog Supply again!

Great collar I'm using for my Brittany. My trainer used it and recommended I get one as well. Tried to find a cheapo version and frankly there's nothing out there as quality as this (and the price is well worth it). As advertised or better, great stuff!

It works well, but my setters really hate it. I would love to find one with shorter studs and more of them to distribute the points of pressure more broadly. It would have the same training affect, with less severity. I tried it in on my forearm, It was not pleasant!

This collar is well made, but it's unnecessarily large and thick. IT's way too long, wide, and thick. I actually ended up cutting off some of the leather. I'm not sure I'd buy it again.
That said, it does work.

Tried everything else, including a prong collar. Nothing worked. This product, which is sturdily and well made, instantly got my brittany to stop hauling at the leash. It just takes a light tug and he checks himself. I was worried about him hurting his throat and this collar has been excellent. Also, delivered quickly with great follow up by GDS.

I bought this collar because the trainer I sent my new pup to used this type. In the past I used just a regular choke chain or chain type pinch collar. I like the way this collar applies the pressure over a wider area and the roller buckles are very smooth and release quickly. The studs are flat pointed and appear like they would be less sharp than my chin style pinch collar. The collar is well made and seems like it last. I bought the medium, my dog has a 14.5-15" neck. the color slips over my dogs head with one adjustment left so I have a little room for growth

Pinch collar that works

We have one of these pinch collars for over 25 yrs until a bored puppy tried to eat it for lunch, them dogs love their leather. Anyway decided to get a new one and this product has not changed a bit. Put this on your dog when walking and they learn fast not to tug a pull your arm out of socket. After a few outings with your dog they will learn not to try and drag you around, highly recommended.

I put this collar on my 7 month old German Shorthair Pointer and once he got used to the different weight distribution he treated it like his old nylon collar. That is until he maxed out his lead. The studs are just enough to get his attention but not harm him. It has aided greatly with training him to go after birds not kids and other dogs. All in all a great tool.

If you have a motivated/driven dog that your struggling to keep from pulling your arm off, this collar is a Great tool that can help. Our GSP is 5 years old now and he loves to hunt and be out front as we hoped he would but we have struggled with him during lead and leash walking times. I wish we would have bought this sooner! It took 2 weeks but he does not pull now when going for walks. Just as other training tools be smart and use it appropriately and don’t get frustrated.

I don't think I would have been able to keep my dog without this collar. My dog is so strong and her pray drive is out of control. I suggest when using this collar make sure it is used properly. Tugs when the dog needs correction not always tight on the neck. She pulled out my shoulder last year running after a cat, this collar makes her think twice before pulling me. The only suggestion is that the leather stretches so keep that in mind when ordering, I had to put another hole in the collar because it ended up getting too big.

I have been using this on my six month old pup for her obedience and heeling. It works very well and stays in place better than other pinch collars over used. I really like the look of it and the buckle makes it easy to put on.
