Soda Pop Bottle Waterer
February 4, 2022
GunDogSupply is my go-to place for my pop bottle waterers and I am a frequent buyer! I like being able to buy the exact number I need. I use these on all my coops and I have plenty of them! I have been using these for about three years.

I bought 6 of these. So easy to install. The bottles fit perfect once you take the cap safety ring off. Love them!

For the most part this worked well. The water filled up the trough after I had to finagle the water bottle to stay on. I wish it could have screwed on the top of the bottle or a bottle to be included with this kit.

These were actually for my show chickens, and they were perfect! So much better than the cups that clip on the cage because the birds can't knock them off. And you can start with a partially frozen bottle which keeps them cool in the heat and stress of the show, too.

The waterer is too easily knocked loose from the bottle. We use it as a chicken waterer. The attachment should be threaded, versus a friction fit. Also, the spring is too awkward for attaching to cage bars around the soda bottle. Invariably, we would drop the bottle trying to attach it and spill 1/3-1/2 of the water. Having spring clips of some sort would be better. We have waterers for our chinchilla that the spring is much better.

It's just right for watering a few chicks at a time. I use it for chicks or chickens that I am keeping in kennels prior to transporting and selling. It is easy for the bird to learn to use and it doesn't easily spill, so the kennel stays dry.

I didn't use these for dogs, I used them for my birds and so far they been working out pretty good. You can't beat the price, way easier then washing all those bowls they just dirty up. I only have to wash these once a week and my bottles in the dishwasher. Getting ready to order more cause my birdie had babies, now they do sell a metal one by Linux for parrots. Now if you could do the same ones in metal so the bigger birds can't chew them that would be great. Just love the price and they work. Thank you for such a great idea.

I thought the waterer would screw onto the bottle, but it just sort of clips on, and one of the two I got did not clip on as tightly as I would like. It has fallen off when the bottle is moved. I also had to snip the little ring left on the bottle after the cap is removed in order for the waterer to fit. It would have been nice to be told that in the instructions.

This product would be fine for quail size or smaller as advertised. Absolutely NOT good for large fowl chicks or adult bantams (silkies). Would work better if drinker part was longer and spring bigger to hold more securely. I will be dumping the unused ones we bought on ebay and chunking the used one.

Good product. I have seen it fall off the wire a time or two, but for the most part it stays put (it may depend on the pen, cage, wire type). It saves me time and water in my Bantam pens. I will be getting some more of these eventually.

I got this water for transporting chickens. I love it. I always carry water in my pick up, so when transporting chickens for sale, I stop and make sure they get cooled off with a drink of water, plus if something happens and I have a sick bird it is easy to keep water for it. Plus the spouts are so easy to clean.

Finally, the finches and cockatiels can't foul the water. Works great. Be sure to take the ring off that is left after opening the bottle. Takes 2 of the springs to go around the bottle, so a 6 inch bungee works perfectly.

Though the threads don't really do anything, they don't really need to as the trough sits on the wire cage, and the bottle is held in place by the spring. Upon initial inspection, I thought they would leak by not being able to screw the bottle down, but I was wrong, as there are no signs of water wicking and leaking.

Use a two liter bottle with this waterer. On some, you will get a tighter fit by wrapping some masking tape or teflon tape on the bottle's thread before screwing on the waterer.

These plastic soda bottle founts are designed for the old style bottles that require a bottle opener to remove the cap.
They work better in my opinion and will "snap on" when you use the correct non-screw on old style bottles.
