Great collar, only issue I've had was the charger. Charged my collar once and it was broken after the first charge.

I am not a fan of electronic collars, however I needed something to get my dog's attention, and this does the job superbly! He is like a different dog, a joy to have around. I will use it to reinforce what has already been done and teach him new things. Great investment, and money well spent!

Ruby is sensitive to the collar and only need level 3 to get her attention. Very easy to charge and use. I'm a novice with these collars. This make and model was recommended by a friend. I would definitely recommend it to others.

For me its perfect. The LED lights at night are great as it's nearly impossible to see a choc lab at night. My lab is very smart but very stubborn. She likes the beep, and I used for a good girl response. But she also checks in if she is out of sight. She pays NO attention to the vibrations at all, but it was nice to attempt to teach with it. In my case, she is very stubborn, so the continuous stimulation is really the only way to get her to break free of a major distraction at this stage. The versatility of the 550 in my opinion great and needed to deliver the message you are trying to get across to the dog. It's working so well. My neighbors are wondering if Garmin will make them for the kids as well. Only downside is battery doesn't last as long as I would like, and the led lights should be relocated to the face of the unit rather than the top of bottom even the side would be better.

The 550 is a great product. Has a couple of improved features from the G3. I had the G3 for about 4-5 years without any problems. Would still be using the G3, but collar was lost and could not find a replacement, so I upgraded to the 550. I like the lighted collar feature.

The collar works awesome. I especially like the fact that the bark feature is there. It corrected the problem in a hurry, and I like that it has so many different intensity options allowing me to use just enough stimulation to train without having to put too much pressure on the dog. Great product. Very happy with it.

I have had my PRO 550 for two weeks now, and I really like it. My Vizsla turned one today, and this e collar has made my training sessions so much easier. I was having trouble with the dog on the recall. Not any more. All I have to do is hit the tone button, and he comes right in. If he does not respond you have the option for 21 levels of stim the highest level my dog needs is a high one. Great system. I would recommend it to all. Awesome product

First thing is I wish it had the ability to handle four dogs, but normally I only hunt one to two dogs at a time, so its not that big of deal. The four dog option would be nice for when I have the dogs loose around the camp or truck. The light feature really is nice and easy to use. The hand unit is lightweight and easy to use and programing the collars was very easy. The tone feature is nice and you can hear it from a good distance away. I've recently hunted with it, and I like the sensitivity that is available for the different dogs. I recommend this unit. Hope it lasts like the old Tri-tronics did from years past.

Super easy to use! Works fantastic! Both of my dogs respond very well to just the tone. I rarely need any other type of stimulation. Just like having remote controlled hearing aids for the dogs. Had a Sports G3 before. The 550 is taking a bit of getting used to, but so far it great.

Steve, This is my forth Tri-tronics, 2 dog collar, beginning with my first collar in the 70's, then a G-2 and a G-3. There are several things that I like about the Pro 550. The lighter weight, The sound of the tone, the vibration setting. I particularly like the remote control beacon lights as I live in the mountains of Colorado, at 9,000ft. and walk my setters in the dark and the pre-dawn light Thanks again for getting the collar to me so quickly. Works very well. Very easy to use. Majority of the time, only use noise button.

We did struggle with the conventional training of the device. More down to the combination of me and a stubborn thick furred dog, but we have adapted it's use, and it has worked wonders. (Such as not 15 minutes ago). The range seems good, the options good, and although with long furred retrievers I doubt we'll get much use from the lights, but I love that addition. An expensive product, yes, but one that gives you a wide variety of training and escalation options. I'm very pleased.

Everything works great. It has really helped calm down both dogs and even though they still run the fence line with dogs on the other side, they are no longer barking. The only thing I wished this product had is the ability to leave the collar on the bark setting and still use the handheld unit. Other than that it is a great product, and we love it very much.

Interactions with livestock and wildlife are no longer negative. I have attentive and focused dogs!

The Tri-Tronics 550 works as advertised. The beeper is excellent. Only time will tell about the rechargeable batteries, but so far great.

I have 10 dogs and train daily as my hobby. Have always used Sportdog collars and decided to try the Garmin Tri Tronics being Garmin is who makes the gps I use. It's by far the best training collar out there!!!

This is the first training collar I've used. I love it. The increasing levels of correction are great, and the dog has responded VERY positively. I was surprised at the large size and light-weight remote. An additional image of the remote size might have decreased my surprise. I wish the remote could be turned-off (like the collar). But overall, the pair is fantastic.

This is an expensive unit. However, I got tired of buying others that coned out the first year, and I could not replace the batteries. This absolutely is the easiest to train your dog with, and it includes a light to use at night. It's worth twice the money so far, and all batteries can be replaced if they stop holding a charge. I bought this collar to use principally for training. I was attracted to the features of the Pro 550, but also for Tri-Tronics reputation of reliability and simplicity of operation. I am very happy with the collar. Much nicer than my old G1 Pro 500. And it has proven to be idiot proof and easy to use.

I originally bought the sportdog wetland hunter, and it was a bit too hot for my dog. So I did some research and bought the pro 550. I have only had it for a month or so now, and to this point I love the collar. I have only used it on level 1 with my dog, and it has helped clean up some obedience issues. I really like the light addition for when I am setting up goose decoys in the dark. With the light I will be able to see where my dog is at all times. I also like the low, medium, and high levels. It has really helped me find the appropriate stimulation for my dogs temperament.

Great product, and easy to use. After only a few training sessions we only use the tone setting.

Solid product. Could not be happier for the first week and a half of use.

It works as promised. Using the collar in conjunction with the basic commands has made the dog easier to control in the house, on walks, and in the field. The light feature is nice as I take the dog out early in the morning. The levels of intensity are great; I have a head-strong dog, and she responds fine at a 3/4 level.

For me the first three levels have no effect on my dog whatsoever. So that is 9 levels of stimulation that don't do anything. This collar was pricey to lose that many levels of stimulation.

Excellent, but should have come with a hard storage case like the last one I had by a company called Radartron model 402DT.

The straps on the receivers are too small in width and too flimsy. The toggle switch on the transmitter is too small. The pro 500 setup is all around better.

We have a very strong-willed dog. He's young, so we love that we can gradually increase the correction strength during training and have already seen a huge improvement in many unwanted behaviors. However, we aren't too impressed by the bark feature. If he really wants to bark, he barks right through the corrections until they get so high that he's yelping. Then he stops until it scales down the correction and starts all over again.

Love the distance. We live in the country, and she can often get out of sight and sound range. So having the collar work so far is great for us.

I like everything about the functionality and performance so far. I did prefer the one inch collar but other than that very pleased.

Really a nice unit. Both dogs respond very well. Our Shepherd has yet to need more than vibrate, but the Lab is a bit more rambunctious. The video from the website was a huge help in my selection and is highly recommended for newbies like me when buying something like this.

I haven't really had a chance to use it yet. Seems like it will be easy to operate.

I was fairly new to using an e-collar when I bought this, so on the advise of people who know more than me I bought the Tri-Tronics collar with the most features so I would have maximum flexiblity. So far I am very happy. If you have used a cheaper e-collar in the past, be aware that this collar has more power than many entry e-collars, so don't assume level 3 = level 3. My single complaint is that the collar charger is not as robust as I think it should be. On the other hand, I verify that the control is waterproof and floats because it has taken a plunge or two this duck season.

I've only used this collar for a couple of weeks, so these are short term comments. The lights don't appear to be to ineffective on furry dogs. Power level jump between 2 and 3 is significant . Would be nice to have settings right below 3. Vibration mode on furry dogs appears ineffective . Battery life on transmitter about one week. Transmitter control awesome. Easy to manipulate in pocket commands/actions. Seems a bit large to conceal during the summer. The transmitter doesn't work on other garmin collars......kind of a bummer. I need to order a red collar. Dogs love it. The deep prongs are effective and they blame the stimulation on everyone and everything except me. Happy holidays to you and your family.
