I buy two ducks a year, one for each dog. One for the Lab and one for the Springer Spaniel. This is their favorite pool toy and they do not put them down. They get used about 5 days a week and year around.

Great product...we use extensively when training marking skills. Consistent throws out of our Zinger Winger launchers or for that matter when hand thrown. Just really nice change up when your dog needs a little change up or extra excitement to push through tough sessions. Naturally improves dogs mouth habits when retrieving so that is great bonus. Dogs just love them!!!

  • improved mouth postitioning, helps build confidence in handling birds and ultimaletly nice to change up different items to keep dogs interest high. Work wonderfully in Zinger Winger launchers for training marks. Unbeatable for training water marks, consistent throws and splash that really is huge asset especially with young dogs. Dogs really prefer the Doken's to the harder shelled competetors.
Cons
  • Over time and use they do sometimes absorb water when using on water marks. Simple enough remedy to squeeze out the excess and then set in sun to dry them out but they do absorb water so people should be aware of that.

Great realistic trainer

My dog loves this...she likes to carry it around after retrieving it. I can't say how much the addition of scent helped, but she does seem to find it readily in dense cover. She has a tendency to hold cylindrical dummies by the flap on the end where the rope attaches, but she holds this dummy on the main part of the body...the design including the hard head and feet promote that.

I am very pleased with my Dokken training ducks. Initially purchased the smaller size for my very young pup. She has grown quickly and is now 4.5 months old and ready for a full size bird. She was a bit puzzled on the first retrieve as the dummy had grown, but quickly figured out the right placement in her mouth and she was so pleased bringing it back!

While we haven’t used these in water yet (ponds and small lakes are frozen over), we are using this duck in the house for the older dogs to get used to the weight and balance of it. So far the dogs love it and will retrieve it.

Good training duck

I got this to train my GSP as a versatile dog. She retrieves toys but she was not sure about this trainer tool at first. After swinging it around to get her excited about it and playing around with it she is retrieving it properly. The duck is a realistic size and shape, and is very durable. I can swing it as hard as I can throw and it just bounces off the ground and does not show more sign of wear than grass smudges. Now she is has little interest in her old toys and just wants this one. I added the duck scent stick to spice it up too.

I’ve had a whole set over time and I love them but so do the hounds once there force fetcheing is done the injoying tearing them. An I’m ok with that cause they get the job done

Last year, I began to use Dokkens instead of bumpers in marking setups and drills. Ducks are expensive and both of my retrievers are "amped" when retrieving Dokkens.

Great item. Am in the process of training our first hunting Golden Retriever and this is an invaluable tool for teaching hold, land and water retrieves, give, etc. The ball for the end is a must add so you can get some distance when throwing. The solid head and ball help keep the dog from shaking off and getting you all wet at the end of the retrieve as well. Solidly built, great price and quick ship from Steve!!

What a great product. If I could own 100 of these and never use another type of retrieving dummy again I would. I love the Dokken whether it's training for hunt tests or waterfowl season. Can't get much closer to a real duck than this, I recommend buying the scent injection kit for added realism.

When I first started using the Dokken dummies my dog acted like they were the real thing. When I threw the other brands he wasn't excited, but when I threw the Dokken he jumped into another gear. I finally bought all Dokken's, and he is excited about every fetch.

Looks nice when new. Lightweight and easy to throw. After several retrieves gets waterlogged, heavy and difficult to throw. Step on it and water bubbles out.
