This whistle was bought to replace an old standby that one is my puppies decided was a chew toy. I'm very happy with this whistle. It works well in the wind and the dogs seem to hear it well.

Audible control is easily done due to pea inside instead of other materials. Short blast are able to be done hands free. Overall great whistle for training.

My dogs are whistle-trained, which saves a lot of yelling and frustration. My old whistle finally wore out after many years. The Acme small size is not all that small, and it puts out a lot of volume. Very pleased with it. At its ridiculously low price, it is without a doubt the greatest bargain in dog training and control on the market. I bought two, to keep an extra in my truck should I forget or lose the first one. The Acme whistle sure beats yelling my lungs out at a stubborn dog. It carries a lot further than I can yell, too. Can't lose with this whistle.

Why in black?

This is a good whistle, very recognizable and loud enough. I'd give it 5 stars if they'd make the dang thing in ORANGE. Sometimes, when you need the whistle, unless it's on a lanyard around your neck, the black color makes it hard to see. This may sound picky, but there are times when you need to locate the whistle fast: orange would make it that much easier.

I like the high pitch it works great in the wind. I have a Lab and sent him to be trained at Rocha Retrievers, the owner uses this whistle and I wanted to keep my dog on the same whistle he was trained with.

My pup is only 2 months old so bought three whistles, so I could have consistency. To date he is too young to give you an opinion to his reaction to the whistle as a training tool. Product looks ok. Time will tell how it works.

I wanted a training whistle that only a dog could hear. This one we can all hear, and it doesn't even phase our dog. Very disappointed. I guess it's good to summon a dog, but not for training a dog to stop unacceptable behavior.

Had a Thunderer whistle for 25 years and then lost it. Purchased this one and in 40 degree weather the pea would hang up. I used it on several hunts, all in above freezing temps and it continued to hang up. I don't use it any more. I didn't want to pay the return shipping, so I discarded it.
