We are still training. She is a rescue, so 2 years old when I got her. Stubborn, but good dog. Responds well to training when lead is in use. Ignores me about half the time when off leash. But we have only had it for about a week, and it is holiday time, so our schedule is a bit unusual.

Our female 8 month old is very sensitive to the tone, vibration and especially to the nicks at low level (1-2). She responded very well to training. She comes 100% of the time even without the tone as well as leaves items on the ground.

Been using it for a few weeks. Works great so far. Holds a charge well. The remote is easy to use and not overly complicated. I would definitely recommend.

First experience with an e-collar. Absolutely love it! As others have stated, excellent with reinforcing obedience commands, previously learned. I use the tone button now almost exclusively, as she hates the vibration (even on the 1 setting -- smart dog! Looking forward to allowing her more freedom come spring!

My Boykin is particularly stubborn when it comes to training, and this E collar nipped that in the bud immediately. He knows when that collar is on it is time to go to work, and the 7 settings really provide a full range of stimulation for all situations.

Great product. Easy to use, and the training videos are excellent.

We live on 2 acres backed up to farmland. This works great for when he wanders a little too far. We use on vibrate and tone only, and he is quite responsive. He is now coming immediately when called with no stimulation. Inside we use to get his attention when he is a playing too rough with the other dog or cat.

It works very well. We are very pleased. Our dog actually comes when called now. He happily comes running to us when called! He used to be disobedient....running away from us when we wanted him to come. The included training book is excellent.

I have had the product for a few weeks now. I am still doing leash training. The few times she has worn the collar it has worked great. Most of the time I can use just the vibrate mode to make the correction. As of now I am happy with the product.

So easy to use. Love that they added the vibration to the collar. Even though my hard headed Vizsla seems to ignore it at this time. I'm hoping that will change in time. I had the old model, and it did not have the vibration.

This collar is a miracle. Transformed a very erratic dog into a focused learner. Excellent product durability and range.

Positives: small collar, great dial for stimulation levels, verified waterproof, and easy to use compared to other brands I've seen used which require linking the remote to receiver each time activated. The only complaint I have is that for multiple dogs, the stimulation/tone/vibration setting options are limited. I like having both momentary and continuous stimulation options. With one dog, I have a button dedicated to momentary stim, another to continuous stim, and the third to vibrate. With multiple dogs, each button is continuous stim for each different collar. I'd prefer the ability to keep momentary stimulation with multiple dogs. This is all clear if you take the time to read the product manual which is available on Gun Dog Supply.

I love love love this collar. I have two beagles who love to run in the woods, and with this collar on they can run as much as they want and return to me with just a push of the button. Very easy to train them, and I especially love the vibration option. Both of my beagles return when I push the tone button, but if they get on a scent and take off, the vibration warns them, and they come running back to me. Couldn't be happier with this collar.

I've been working with my 2 year old chocolate lab for about a week with the SD-425. It's working great so far for basic obedience.

Haven't used an e collar for ~10 years. Found the product easier to use, charge and adjust. No problems or deficiencies.

I bought the SportDog Field Trainer SD-425 to replace my old Yard Trainer, which failed after just short of 2 years of near daily use. The good: The SD-425 is lighter, charges MUCH faster, and holds a charge longer. The receiver is smaller and lighter, and the power button is relocated so that it sits against the dog’s neck. This should reduce the likelihood that the dog will bump up against something and inadvertently turn the collar off (not a big problem, but it did happen once or twice with the old collar). The small receiver also seems less likely to ride around to the side of my dog’s neck than the old receiver. The remote is small and light, and fits easily in a pocket. Of the 3 or 4 trainers I’ve tried, it’s by far my favorite remote. The SD-425 also has greater range, but that’s not a major issue for me – if my dog is more than 75 yards away we’re not working together as I would like. The different: With my old trainer I could program each of the 3 buttons, so I could have a tone button, a light stim button, and a more intense stim button. Having 2 levels of stim was really nice as it allowed me to keep the stim low but ramp up quickly if needed (think porcupine, car, etc.). With the SD-425 I now have a tone button, a “nick” (quick stim), and a continuous stim button – but both stims are set at the same level. Going from nick to continuous stim is less effective than an increase in stim levels. The SD-425 does give me the ability to control multiple dogs with the same remote, which my old trainer could not do. Giving up programming control over the button function to gain control over multiple collars is a tradeoff. I only have 1 dog, so it wasn’t a great tradeoff for me, but it likely makes sense for others. You be the judge. And just to be clear, you can always increase the stim by simply turning the dial. That’s pretty easy to do, but the less I need to fumble with the better (think about that charging that porcupine again). The other thing I noticed is that the rubber cap over the charging ports on the SD-425 is less secure than the cap on my old trainer. I’m not sure whether this will turn out to be a big difference or not. We haven’t been swimming with the new collar yet, but I’ll admit to being a little nervous. It’s hard to go wrong with the SD-425. It’s a well made product and simple to operate.

I have been trying to get Lola's attention for almost a year without success. The first day I used the collar I got results.

Wish I would have purchased this when my puppy was younger. He's 9 months old and would get too close to the street, chase the cat or jump on people when they arrive. We have used this to assist us in training him with what acceptable behavior is. The video and book that was included were great resources.

The training collar is wonderful!! I feel like I have my dog in control now, and we are both happier! Watching the training DVD'S are a must, otherwise people will just think they can hurry up and put that collar on and start pushing buttons! If done as instructed, it keeps your dog safer and the owner much happier!! Another great product!!

I didn't get to use it much yet. What little I did we had to use a really high setting because she is SO stubborn. Even my trainer was amazed at how much was needed. Once she realized what we wanted, she did much better, but I hate to use a high setting just to get her attention. I will start using it more once her stitches are out, and she can get out there again.

I borrowed one from a friend AFTER my dog bolted on me using a regular leash and tore my rotator cuff. I now need surgery, so this has become a MUST for me to walk my dog and let her out for busy. My labs response is instant using the sport dog collar. Thank you, and your price was the best I found.

I could not have my 10 month old pup off leash without him chasing cars, horses, deer or anything else that moved. All the obedience training we did was a good foundation, but the commands he performed so well in a confined area would fall on deaf ears. After about a week of training with the collar, our lives have improved 100%! I am now just using the tone or vibrate, and his recall off leash is excellent. Very easy to use. Would highly recommend!

The SportDOG Field Trainer SD - 425 is an excellent tool for training and addressing those unwanted dog behaviors in a non-threatening way.

Although I've only had the collar for a couple of weeks, it is working very well for me. My main use so far is to try to break bad habits, for which he is showing much improvement.

I purchased the collar to help train our new puppy around our rabbits and chickens. It only took one correction for her to leave the rabbits alone. We are now working on walking off lead. So far the collar has done everything it has promised. It is very easy to use. I like that it is waterproof too. I would order from Gun Dog Supply again!

I really like my new sport dog training collar 425. I am not stressing about my dog not listening to me when I call him or when he jumped on people. He is an obedient dog now and we are happier too.

Seems like a good product but not suitable for smaller dogs like my 11# Coton. The hard plastic collar is so stiff that I had to choke Buddy a little just to attach it to his neck and remove it. Still, I put it on him for several hours a day for four days without activating it -- as recommended so he wouldn't associate the collar with the signals. First I tried the beep, the vibration, and the shock on myself. I was surprised at the strength of the shock even at its lowest setting, but I thought surely, they know what they're doing. Then I tried the beep on Buddy. He noticed it but wasn't impressed. Ditto with the vibration. Later I shocked him at the very lowest setting. He yelped and leaped into the air and tried to run from me --Somehow he knew I was responsible. For several hours Buddy cowered and slunk away from me when I tried to approach him - which he had never done before. Instead of using the collar, I'll be checking Gun Dog Supply's return policy. I hope I'll have a good report on that. I suspect that the shock was set too high at the factory. If it were set lower I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this electronic collar for a larger dog like a lab. But I don't think this product is suitable for dogs as small as Buddy.

Purchased this collar for my in-laws dog, who is part black and tan coonhound and doberman. He has tons of energy, and they needed something to help contain him while in their yard. The tone feature is really quiet, so not very good if you lose your dog in cover. But the vibrate feature and the ease of setting the button modes is good. I'd recommend it for a pet use, but would probably not use in a hunting scenario.

Our 14-year old son watched the video and trained our golden retriever to stop running the fence when other dogs walked by. Our dog had been tenacious in running and barking, and now just sits quietly. He occasionally will run to the fence, but a simply vibration brings him right back.

I use this collar for my dog because she is deaf, and it has a vibration component that many of the others don't. As a professional dog trainer, I recommend this collar to my clients because of the tone, vibration and correction components. Great collar for the price!

Thanks to training with this collar, we feel like we have a new dog. Our dog is deaf, and this collar has allowed us to communicate with him more effectively. It is easy to use with many adjustable settings. For our dog (about 70 pounds), the collar is not too big or bulky. Highly recommended. Great customer service too!! Collar came earlier than expected and when we had a question about the functionality of the collar, we called and got to talk with someone who gave great advice.
