These are great units and make cleaning quick and easy. I actually use them for my alpacas as well as my dogs. I think I have 7 of them currently.
The cost is worth the longevity of the unit. Most waterers break (plastic) or rust out and you have to replace at least annually. These last for years!
Now if I can just see them for 99.00 again, I can buy more!
Thank you

The waterer works good, but it started to get rust stains inside the waterer within the first year. I called in & was told to use steel wool on it. I wasn't too pleased with that response.

Mounted to wall so dogs can't tip over, dogs always have water, very important with the drought in Texas. Easy to clean and maintain.

I love the design and the bowl size. The construction is great too. The only problem I have is the water comes out a little over-oxygenated (lots of white small bubbles) and my dogs don't like it. I am trying to reconfigure the water outlet for a faster feed rate, maybe that will help. I would recomend this product to anyone interested in it.

this dog waterer is fantastic....i never had a problem with it.....ive moved it twice to keep it in the shade.....evey morning i turn on the hose(with brass splitter)to rinse out any debris from overnite and to make sure the water is cold(the stagnent water is hot from the morning sun in the hose)only once i had to make an adjustment to the float but other than that its the real deal. thanks SAM

Tends to get mold/algae very quickly since dogs are not drinking enough water to keep water clean and clear.
Needs to be cleaned / scrubbed often.
I should have purchased your alternate bowl which attaches to the garden hose.

I am a veterinarian and installed this unit as a waterfountain in front of our hospital as a courtesy to our patients. Our clients love it! It is installed as part of a walking trail that connects to several different communities in a planned development, so it is used frequently by dog walkers as well.

Waterer provides a consistent supply of fresh water but has required regular attention. I had to order a replacement inlet hose after about one year because of leakage. Stainless steel bowl began developing rust within a year but it is too expensive to replace. Needs frequent (weekly) anti-rust attention (scrubbing and treatment with CLR). Otherwise, it works satisfactorily. I wish the bowl were available in a non-rusting material.

Great automatic waterer. I no longer have to worry that the dogs have fresh water. The bowl still needs to be wiped out every few days, but a great improvement over being my dogs' waiter.

This is a very sturdy dog waterer. I like the hardware options you can choose to mount this on. Being mostly stainless steel its a breeze to clean out. Wish I would have known sooner about this product.

The Nelson Dog Waterer's quality is evident in the construction and design of this unit. The multiple mounting options should fit everyone's needs and will withstand the environmental conditions for many, many years. The automatic waterer assures my Lab has access to essential water whenever he desires... and in the heat of Texas a hard working dog can and should consume lots of water to remain hydrated and healthy. Knowing he has access to clean water anytime of the day or night reassure me I'm doing everything I can for my dog since he works so tirelessly for me in the field. With the convenience offered by this unit, there also comes a responsibility to make sure you clean and maintain it to assure the constant supply of clean water to your canine. Maintenance is minimal, just a visual inspection each time you clean out the environmental debris which accumulates from normal use.

Float Adjustment:
I wish that there was an easy water float adjustment like a screw adjustment instead of having to bend the float wire.

I have a conflicted review of this product. I have 4 installed in our dog runs, and 1 installed in our house. They are super easy to clean, and are very durable. However, I'm pretty sure this waterer was involved in the gruesome partial amputation and de-gloving of my dogs middle toe. I'm not sure what happened, but when I came back home the dog was missing her middle toe and the waterer was broken with water flooding our garage. I'm pretty sure she managed to get it stuck/pinched in the device and frantically tried to get it lose, thereby causing an expensive trip to the vet. I ordered spare parts for the product, and fixed it, but am still wary of the continued use without being supervised. I would recommend very careful placement when installing in multiple dog runs, to make sure the dog doesn't get a foot up on it and a toe stuck.
