I wanted to stop my dog from running into the street, but the unit doesn't work each time I press the button. One time he ran over 500 yards down the street before the unit worked, but when it did, he ran back. He could have been killed... so I'm not super happy.

You can tell this is a high quality training collar. I have purchased two cheaper brands that have broken after a short period of time. Like the old saying goes....You get what you pay for!

My dog Otis is already trained, but can sometimes be very stubborn. We take him out hiking, so he can run off leash. He likes to chase deer and sometimes does not come back very promptly when called with a whistle. It only took a couple of times out with the collar, and he really listens, even with all the distractions of running free outdoors. The video and training pamphlet are excellent. Easy to understand instructions and easy to use control. Fast delivery and very competitive price. Plus you can call Gun Dog Supply if you have any questions or problems with your unit. That was the deciding factor to buy from them.

I needed a new collar for my young Lab; this collar has a dial to change correction levels, which is much simpler to control in the field, compared to my old collars, which used electronic controls. This one is also expandable when I pick up my new pup this spring.

Used twice in one day. My dog remembers now and stops when he is called, even at a full run. It's such a relief to know my dog won't be road kill because I couldn't stop him. I don't know if I will ever need it again, but it was worth the cost if I never need it again.

The compact size of the SD 825 doesn't hinder the usefulness of this handy little collar. Range is great, and love the raised dot on the "tap" momentary stimulus button. Its easy to find when you've got your hands full, but the dog needs that little reminder. Charge life is good and will go 3 or 4 days with all day use. Perfect collar for our small dogs. Highly recommended.

I had searched long and hard before choosing this collar, and I'm very happy with the results! Gun Dog Supply had the most information and videos as well as customer reviews. I wouldn't purchase anywhere else! It shipped out quickly, and I was updated with the tracking number immediately. The collar arrived ready to go straight out of the box. It works great on my GSD, and after watching the training dvd it came with, and following instructions, my dog learned quickly and positively! Would definitely recommend!

Received the first collar, and it quit working after the first day. Called Steve and told him about the problem, and he immediately sent me another. The new SD-825 has worked flawlessly. So far it has held up well to water retrieves.

Love this product, as it has really helped to keep my dog safe. After a little practice, my dog has learned to stop chasing vehicles and to stay on our property. I tried this on myself before using on my dog to make sure that I was not hurting him. I rarely have to use it, and feel so much better when my dog is off the leash. Great product!

Hunting season is over, so just use it for walking my dog in our urban neighborhood, instead of using a leash. So far so good. I had a Sportdog 425 for two years, and it lost it's range less than a year after its first use. The company replaced the collar piece for me. The second one also lost its range. Not sure if it is the battery that needs replacement. Hopefully, the 825 won't give me that problem. What do you think? Thanks.

I don't like how narrow the collar strip is. Seems too narrow and cheap, like it may break or tear in short time of use. I had a TriTronic before with a wide 1" collar strap, and it seemed better and lasted a long time.

I received the unit 2 weeks ago, but at the lowest setting it was still high for our 7 month old Brittany. I called Gun Dog Supply and they have agreed to exchange it for a Dogtra 280NCP which has 100 levels.

I compared the SportDOG SD-825 to a number of e-collars on-line and bought it based primarily on Steve's recommendation. An excellent collar; however, the training books and videos are important to assure you don't use the e-collar incorrectly. While our dog is primarily a pet, I have been working him on uplands and the range and response is fantastic.

Love this collar. My 18 month old un-neutered male lab works with me all day at our horse rehabilitation farm. He had started bolting every time I let him out. He would actually leave the farm and end up in surrounding neighborhoods. Hormones kicking in I'm sure! Was very worried he'd get killed in the road or stolen. It took about a week of de-bolting training on a long line with the SD collar. He's now off-leash and back to work all day with no problems. I like the 1/2 mile range too. If I get busy and lose sight of him it's quite easy, on the farm, for him to get that far away. There have been times I've toned for a full 3-4 mins and then see him come running. This is an upgrade for me, and so far I am happy with it. This is very versatile. Has great battery life, and it does work. The only things that could be better are the collar strap and the antenna. The strap is clumsy and stiff, and the antenna can become loose. Neither should be a deal breaker.

The Wolfhound was known to wander, but now all she has to do is see the collar, and she wants to please!

Allows Toby to run free over our meadow, full speed, burning up his 9 month old puppy energy. Afterwards he is much easier to train.
