I wish it had a belt clip; I had to glue one on. This collar is hotter than other collars I've used. The one on the dial (on low) starts at what would be about 1.5 on the TriTronics sport basic and about 20 on the E-collar Technologies or Dogtra collar. This wasn't a problem for my dog, but might be for more sensitive dogs. It also doesn't include a ring on the bottom of the transmitter, so if you want to use a different lanyard, you have to get creative.

Works great. My dog is responsive to lowest setting. The DVDs were very helpful. I ordered another product prior to this and it was useless. I would definitely recommend this product.

I'm polishing her basic obedience training with the SD-425, and it's working like a charm, notwithstanding the occasional adolescent backslide.

I am very happy with this collar. The 3rd day I had this collar on my dog it saved her life. She had not retrieved in an area bordering a road before. For some reason she ran by me and into the road. I was able to shock her once as she entered the roadway. It was the 2nd shock that sent her running back to me and safety. There was a car not 50 feet from her and she would have been hit for sure. I have never been a fan of shock collars, but after watching the video and learning how to use them correctly, they are a lifesaver.

This collar is no joke. I am so skeptical of products that I order online, that I am usually happy if it does half of what it claims to do. The SD-425 blows me away with it's quality and versatility. This has been a fantastic tool to train with. To go off leash anywhere is great. Especially 'come' is vital. This is the third remote I have purchased for different family members dogs.. They were the skeptics, and they have dogs that are happier because their alpha human is happier with a dog that listens. Now with a two hour recharge rather than 24 hours has been a great improvement.

Works great for my stubborn Lab. I wish I hadn't wasted money on cheaper products that didn't work.

1st minute of training the response was perfect. Within 15 minutes he followed the sit/stay command from a distance of 30-35 feet and the lead was left on the ground.

We have a 9 month old, 70lb Goldador puppy. He is too smart for his own good. For example, he figured out how to open the gate on our fenced in backyard all on his own. lol this FieldTrainer is fantastic and easy for the beginning family with all aged children. My children (ages 7 and 10) have learned right along with the adults on the correct usage and it is perfect for our suburban city lot. As well as when we do some beginning training in the field at our family farm. I highly recommend it for anyone just starting out with puppy level training. Do watch the videos and read the manuals! It just makes things easier in the long run.

Working pretty good. I have had one in the past that worked excellent. Also my previous trainer used a Vizsla and it worked fine also.

Small, compact and does everything you want in an e-collar.

Unit seems sturdy and works as advertised. Collar is kind of a pain. I would rather have a cloth material instead of the cheap plastic. I have never used a device like this before, but so far it seems like a very useful tool for stubbornness of dog - commands not obeyed. I have only had this unit for a month or so and have not really been out enough to see how well it really works. This type of device seems to provide a little more leverage when needed for her to obey. I need more experience with it to fully understand it's potential. The tone, vibrate and shock are all very useful. This dog obeys well with just tone and vibrate modes, but I did have to use shock once so far - when she decided to run off to the neighbors and play, running across the road and sloshing rain water and dirt all over everybody. She eventually came back by command but it took level #3 shock to get her attention again. I can see where it might be pretty handy for when she gets excited like this and wants to run to children and other dogs to play. She is getting large so children are afraid of her plus she jumps up on people, which is another command I need to get her to obey. I think this unit and method will come in very handy for some commands she needs to obey. All in all, this unit is probably a very good first time device of this nature, it is suppose to be waterproof which it seems to be so far, but I have not let the dog swim with it yet to really know. The batteries seem to last so far, but I really have not taken an entire day in the field with it to know. The construction is pretty good, you can tell it's not the cheap plastic on the handheld unit and the unit on the dog collar is well epoxied and constructed strongly. As I said before, the only thing I would complain about is the thin cheap collar, but I think you could fit a thin fabric material collar onto the unit and be much happier with the way it looks and feels to the dog. I don't know how other units work, but it would also be nice if the hand unit would make a tone when you use the tone button, just so you can feel more comfortable it is toning mode when you press the button, you can't hear anything if the dog is very far away. Only the collar unit tones. If the dog is not responding to the tone which you usually can’t hear - then you aren't sure if the collar is working correctly to confidently go to vibrate or shock to get her to obey. You just have to trust that the unit is working correctly. And don’t forget to turn the collar on when you are ready to use the hand device, it is easy to forget. The collar has a little green light on it when it is on, but you can’t see it once it’s on the dog. It would be nice to have a green flasher in the front of it that is more visible. But for a first time user, I am happy with it so far, I think it will work for some time and give me lots of pleasure in watching my dog friend advance and obey.

Great range and options for training my dog to walk without a leash and to retrieve.

We own 3 Great dogs. Our Sophie has a few issues with her behavior and this was our last resort as I don't like E-collars and yet how wonderful it is to have! Watching the video that came with the collar is very important for people to watch! Learning Proper method is key to not harming the dog. My Sophie is doing so much better now with her behavior issues.

This is a fantastic collar!! Easy to setup and use, it's perfect for most people. I was afraid the transmitter would be a little small, but it's actually perfect. It fits great in my hand or I can slide it in my pocket for quick access as well. I highly recommend this for yard training or general field use.

I have a well trained dog that had a few bad habits I wanted to break. He is extremely sensitive and I didn't know how using an E-collar would work without upsetting his very sensitive nature. It has worked wonders. I've only had to use the sound and vibrate mode. In 5 days he is a completely different dog. I wish I would have gotten this collar a year ago!

Love the functionality of the collar, its smaller than my previous 400 model which makes it more comfortable to wear. the vibration button is nice its something she can actually feel so she knows instead of just hearing a beep. Overall I love it.

This product will be used to reinforce obedience training in a puppy. However, the puppy is not yet steady enough to use the collar. So, other than knowing that it is as advertised, charges, and works on me. I have nothing to report and no experience of its use. I expect we will be several weeks more in leash training before we are ready. I own several Sportdog products, and satisfaction with them was the major factor in my choice.

Works great! Gives my dog the freedom to run and has made training so much easier. I highly recommend this product, especially if you have a willful dog who's listening skills are consistent at best.

Jolene is responding to her training with the e-collar incredibly well. She had solid obedience before, but as soon as she was off leash she would deliberately disobey my commands because there was no accountability. She is also a sensitive dog (anatolians are known as such...) and I was worried about how she would respond to the collar. I watched the DVD with Robin and Steve and made sure I knew what I was doing before heading out into the field. At first, she was really anxious about the new sensation, but I ensured that we took our time getting used to the collar and I continued to use tons of positive reinforcement. Now, just a few short weeks later, she definitely knows that a little tap means she needs to listen--no different than a tug on the leash--and I can generally get the behavior I am asking for just by using the vibrate setting. Basically, I have gone from an e-collar sceptic to an e-collar believer! Can't wait to see what results will come from more training.

Have only had it 1 week but love it so far. I have a 12 week old puppy who insists in trying to jump on the cat. Cat is trying to teach her not to do that but to no avail. Tried everything, put collar on today on vibrate only. Puppy already gets the idea.

This product has worked wonders in my opinion. My dog is always pulling at the end of his leash when we walks and can be misbehaved when we go to other people's homes. After working with him with this collar after 2 weeks I saw dramatic improvement. When the collar is on he knows it's time to listen and behave. The only down side is my dog has very thick skin so the collar doesn't always pick up when I give him some pressure, however this is easily fixed after some adjustment. Just have to find the sweet spot.

This was to replace my free spirit that was 15 yrs old and had lost its charge. I love this new Trainer. We walk trails and have to watch for rattlers at all times. We can call our dog back in a second, when time counts. Thank you so much for the good service from your company.

She is super charged and a bit headstrong. Watched the DVD, put the collar on her, and she's a different dog. Seems she isn't dumb, Just was doing what she wanted. Much better now.

The SD-425 is a nice device. It works as described on the Sport Dog website. Both the collar and hand control are small compared to other manufacturer's products. Gun Dog Supply is easy to deal with. Their website is easy to navigate. They shipped the order promptly. I would definitely order another Sport Dog product and would definitely order from Gun Dog Supply again.

I was skeptical about getting an e-collar, but the large 8 month old puppy that I adopted was getting out of control. I did my research and emailed Steve for advice.
