Mounting it was easy for us, it worked perfectly and kept our dogs hydrated even in the summer time in AZ! I would recommend this to anyone!

Absolutely the best thing I ever did for me and the dogs. No fuss, no muss, always fresh water, No funky bucket and I can leave knowing that they cannot knock over a bucket and be without water. i need to clean it about once a month as far as algae building up on the float and back panel. That's only if they are in the house a lot and it's not being used much. I wash the pan once a week because i have backwash; drinkers that like to rinse their mouths in it. I have even considered putting one inside the house. hooking it up on the wall opposite our water supply for the ice maker. Still thinking about that one. Very fine product that i have had for a very long time and trouble free. I tell everyone about it that has a dog.

Great for all dogs, each learn how to get water as they need it. Enought flow to keep water cool and clean. Just keep kids out of it, and let dogs drink! If you can instruct kids how to turn water on they can keep everyone happy. Keep kids from drinking water, otherwise dogs wont forgive them!

I love the dog waterer, what I don?t like it cleaning the dog waterer. The area that holds the filter gets slimy and it is just small enough to allow my hand in there without scraping knuckles.

I have an adult and a puppy that will chew everything, bolted down or not. The Nelson is surviving nicely. Sturdy and easy to maintain.

Solid unit and I just dump the water to clean, I tried plastic water units, but my dogs just chewed them up.

We actually had 2 dogs when this was purchased. It is absolutely awesome. Set it up and you pretty much don't have to worry about your dog being left out without water ever again. We had a plastic one before that developed a crack in cold weather and we came home to 100s of gallons of water in our yard. With this one, you never have to worry about it. We've had it for around 5 years and no problems.

It's ok, but not excellent.....really the only issue is that it constantly leaks or siphons water onto the ground. It's better made than others I've used, but definately not perfect.....but my two english pointers don't seem to mind.

I have 3 mutts a jr/rat terrier mix and two labs..they can all reach and get fresh water anytime they want. I have also seen my cats and chickens use it. It's really a great product..too bad there wasn't one to use in the cold months? Hmm perhaps a new product?

For the ranch, the water is so corrosion, I need a plastic tub & brass fittings. In California, it works fine, requires a bit of cleaning But that is normal

I have had the Nelson Dog Waterer now for 4 years and it has been quite reliable. This is the all-stainless steel version. It has a direct hose connection and I route that out and through the fence as short as possible so that the dogs don't chew on it. The bowl is stainless, rectangular, and mounted via 2 mounting screws (with a sliding tab to make emptying the bowl easy) Likewise, since the unit is stainless there is no rust (except for a little on the spot-welds that hold the 2 mounting screws in place). These 2 dismount screws make dumping the stainless bowl easy. I purchased 2 of the units so that I could swap out the bowls periodically -- I clean one while the other one is in-place being used. For the winter, I put a small dog water bowl heater in the bowl and it keeps things from freezing (it has a built-in thermostat). But I wish that this could be integrated into the bottom of the bowl itself (i.e. not in the water, but connected to the bottom of the bowl). This would be a big improvement. Also, since this bowl is outside, it does accumulate green "pond scum". But a simple sun shade would probably solve that problem (tried it, but my dogs ate it. A stainless plate would work better). All-in-all it is a fine product and I have been very happy with its trouble-free performance. Scott

My big ol' lab loves to paw the water onto his chest in the heat of summer and the automatic Nelson Dog Waterer is still letting him do precisely that. The good side of this behavior is fresh water all the time.. and I'm not pouring it. good ol' boy! "Duke" my best friend!

I initially installed them (2) with water hose and the St Bernard ate the hose, Now PVC. Everything is good. quality construction but would maybe like to have the water tray a little larger. Saves a lot of time watering seven dogs.

Pros: Easy to install; easy to clean; works flawlessly. Con: The connection to the reinforced hose that came with the unit isn't generic. Because of this I couldn't run a reinforced washing machine hose that was longer to the unit and had to "hard plumb" to the unit's short hose.

So far so good. I just installed it. Had a bit of an issue with getting the brass hose screwed into the plastic valve fitting. I am concerned that I am going to end up with a leak. I am notorious for ending up with metal to plastic fittings that leak. Everything else installed easy enough. Might have been nice to have some wood screws that fit the unit for fastening into the wall since they included the chainlink mountings it wouldn't have taken much to include some wood screws. Nice heavy stainless steel. I was concerned when I ordered it sight unseen but it is definitely as advertised.

Slightly hard to put in and out. Other then that it is great and no one with even one dog should be without it.

Even though the dogs have a 10 acre lake behind the house, they prefer fresh water from the automatic dog waterer. I actually purchased 2 of the automatic waterers - 1 for the indoor dog room and 1 for outside. Love them!!!

Love everything about it. It is sturdy and well made. I have had it for a couple years now without any issues at all.

They sure make my kennel work easier! I'll be ordering a couple more for additional runs real soon!

Other than a good cleaning from Algae build up it is great.

This is a great water bowl. I have two other galvanized water bowls that are so hard to keep clean. This one is a cinch to keep clean. I plan on buying two more to replace the other ones.

Very innovative prodcut! I built a dog room as part of my garage which leads to a run and thats where my dogs are all day while Im at work or gone durning the weekend. The Nelson Dog Waterer ensures my dogs have fresh water at all times so I never have to worry.

Cannot get it to stop. Water comes in and seems to stop; cannot see or hear that it is running but if I return after an hour or so, water is dripping over the top. Dogs are NOT in the room when this happens. Cannot figure out why it keeps seeping out.

I purchased this waterer because one of my dogs likes to splash in his water bowl to cool himself down. Consequently he knocks the bowl over and then is without water. The Nelson Dog Waterer has solved that problem because I was able to mount the waterer to the side of the house raising it up off the ground and stopping the knocked over bowl problem.

The Nelson waterer has been great for keeping fresh water available during hot summer days. Our Rocky Mountain Bulldog can drink a quart or more of water at a time and leave regular water bowl empty after a couple of hours.

The ability to disconnect the bowl for cleaning is a useful feature.

Only thing I don't like is it has a tendency to hang on the bolts that clamp it to a post.

Nelson products are bullet (and Samoyed) proof. This is my indoor water source. I installed a Nelson unit with heater outside and have never had a problem. Spendy but worth the investment.

Bowl needs daily cleaning to prevent slime buildup and staleness of the water Would be nice if it had a small connection on bottom of bowl to drain/rinse

It is durable, easy to clean and by far the best waterer I have used. We have tried other models and they leaked and we impossible to keep clean. I highly recommend this waterer.

I like the dog waterer just fine. However, we have well water that isn't treated and in the summer a green scum begins to take over and requires regular cleaning. It isn't attached at the moment but I imagine I will need to set it up again once my big dog gets back home.

Tried at least three cheaper waterers and they all failed. Decided to try a more expensive one and Boy am I glad I did. The Nelson is is sturdy and well constructed. I highly recommend it.

The Nelson Dog Waterer's quality is evident in the construction and design of this unit. The multiple mounting options should fit everyone's needs and will withstand the environmental conditions for many, many years. The automatic waterer assures my Lab has access to essential water whenever he desires... and in the heat of Texas a hard working dog can and should consume lots of water to remain hydrated and healthy. Knowing he has access to clean water anytime of the day or night reassure me I'm doing everything I can for my dog since he works so tirelessly for me in the field. With the convenience offered by this unit, there also comes a responsibility to make sure you clean and maintain it to assure the constant supply of clean water to your canine. Maintenance is minimal, just a visual inspection each time you clean out the environmental debris which accumulates from normal use.

Love that it has the removable bowl for ease of cleaning.

Great automatic waterer. I no longer have to worry that the dogs have fresh water. The bowl still needs to be wiped out every few days, but a great improvement over being my dogs' waiter.
