I have a GSP who does a lot of running through the brush. This vest is very sturdy, easy to adjust and will protect your dog. Very helpful to watch the video on how to fit before you order.

The fit is a little different. Seems a bit long. I run a Chessie on pheasants in some nasty brush. He hasn’t had any complaints with this vest. It does provide good coverage and protection.

I’ve used the Sylmar vest on my setters for over a decade and have never needed to repair or replace them, only purchase new vests for new dogs. Sturdy enough for heavy grouse cover, saves their chest from being pricked to death by weeds like starthistle, and reduces the burrs that get into their armpits and chest. It’s an excellent product.

With my new pup, I wanted to make sure he had the protection he needs for hunting in tall, heavy sagebrush and this vest does the trick. The added bonus is the bright colors makes it easier to see him and to ensure he’s not mistaken for any game animals, as our seasons overlap.

I purchased two Sylmar Body Guard Dog Vests this fall for use on my labrador retrievers while upland bird hunting. Having now used them several times I have noted a couple of areas in which they could be improved, I know it's hard to imagine given how nice they are, but nothing is perfect.

The best was true to size for my dog, fit very well. Protects her from burs and sticks.

I bought a less expensive competitors vest for my other dog at the same time I bought this one. The competitors vest fell apart within 3 days and left me wishing I had spent the money for the better quality product.

Durable material, good fit, great design. I really like how my dog, Ruby, steps into the vest and the buckles are on top — makes for a quick and convenient launch. Breastplate fits well and should protect Ruby when we hit the fields this fall!

I ordered this after measuring my dog per the instructions. However it's to small for my dog when tried to put it on. I didn't bother to return as I have a puppy coming up I may be able to use it on. I am trying to put together a few bucks to order a larger size to see if I can get one to cover my female that had a recent litter so I can try again.

My GSP was not thrilled with the vest when I fitted it to him at home, but when we went to the field yesterday, he didn’t give it a second thought. He went through weeds and brush and didn’t get a scratch. Also, he had no evidence of any chafing. Steve’s video for sizing and fitting a vest is very helpful.

This vest provides protection for my GSPs. I have 2 dogs and use these vests on both.

The medium is an excellent fit for my 70# male Lab and his 57# mom. I bought the 1st one for my hard charging male after he got cut and scraped during a recent hunt. It fit really well and improved visibility so well in the thick cover that I bought a 2nd for his more moderate hunting mom. The combination of the brightly colored vests and different pitched bells, allows me to keep tabs on them in the thick stuff. My main gripe is the loose weave nylon strap material. It is already beginning to fray after having to pick all manner of burrs from them is a regular occurrence. A quick pass of a flame will take care of the fraying, but a better choice of material similar to that on my upland vest would be the better solution.

The measurement guide is spot on, took measurements ordered a medium as recommended and received a perfect fit!! Won’t run my G.S.P in the field without one ever again!!

This vest is great for thick cover protection including briars and my Boykin happily wears it all day. Means we’re going to work!

Got this vest to protect my deer tracking WHD while doing tracks. I had noticed that her under belly was getting raw from tracking through briars and other harsh brush since she is so low to the ground. After determining which size she needed which turned out to be the XS I couldn’t be happier, fits well over her tracking harness and fully protects her chest sides and under belly. The material is light and appears to be durable.

Easy to use nice fit seems very durable

This is the second one I have bought. First one is in the third year for my older Lab. I have had other brands and when the last one tore up for my 3 year old Lab I bought a second one of these. They are quite hard on vests. Its easy to adjust and once it is set the straps are always in the right place. Highly recommend it.

Mine is NSDTR and she is “low rider”. Wanted to protect her from spikey prickly weed - still gotta brush out so much out of her fur. The design is not optimal unless you run through pure grasslands. Overpriced. Ok material. If I knew what i was getting - I would have not made this purchase

I borrowed one of these from a friend and liked it so much I bought one for my dog. I've used it twice so far and it works very well... I like the type of fabric it's made of--much better and stronger than the next popular brand--worth the extra $$ in the long run..

Our dog runs no less than 5-miles per day (double that when the weather is nice) plowing through desert scrub brush and the occasional briar patch, and this vest keeps her clean and protected.

I love these vests - this is the second one I have purchased. I measured my dog (Vizsla - 46 lbs) and the chart said to order a medium but it was to large - exchanged for a small and it fits perfectly. His measurements were right at the borderline of small and a medium. Small fits perfectly with plenty of adjustment in the buckles still. I like how the size is now listed on a tag on the vest - this will save a lot of time next time I order one.

Excellent vest. Made of high quality materials. After a season, running through aspen clear cuts in MN, there has been no damage to the vest or my dog. It has really helped protect my pup from all the raspberry briars and young aspen stickers that she plows through. Plus it is super visable in the thick clear cuts areas which is so important when you cannot see more than 30 yrds. The buckles and straps are strong and durable. I forsee this vest lasting me a long time.

Saw these online and liked the idea of a different color for my second dog. Order arrived quickly and as advertised. Held up great through a week of pheasant hunting in SD through weeds and standing corn.

I wantrd something that wasn't loose fitting on my 36 lb French Brittany. So I went with "S" size. It leaves most of his back exposed but covers his chest and sides perfectly. My iniital concern was it might be a lttle tight around his front legs and possible cause chaffing. This proved to be unfounded. He has worn it now for 5-6 eight hour hunts without issue. It does a great job protecing his under belly and sides from scrapes, cuts and ect. It works great!

Great vest!!! The only issue I have with it is the shoulder/front leg holes seem small and do not allow a lot of room for running and proper fit on my large lab. I know I'm being nick-picky but other than that this vest is one of the best I've found. We hunted all weekend with no issues.

Overall, this is one of the best and most rugged vests I've used. Very durable material and easy to put on the pooch. It stays put once on. As for fit, I see some opportunity for improvement. The neck doesn't fit great. Its a little loose. Allows debris to get in. A neoprene section might solve that. Extending the belly pan would also be helpful. It doesn't go far enough back to protect all of the dog's lower belly.

I am very pleased with my purchase of the SYLMAR body vest I bought for my Chocolate Lab. The vest fit nice and doesn't slide or bunch up on her. Would recommend this to all hunters looking for some body protection for their hunting partner.

Makes my beagle much more visible while at the same time fitting great. It was a little different than hher winter coat which is just a blanket over her but she got used to it in a few minutes. Would recommend this for anyone who hunts with their dog.

We haven't been pheasant hunting yet but it took about 1 hour for my lab to be used to wearing it and it fit well.

I searched all over for an upland vest to fit my English Cocker Spaniel, Lilly. The Sylmar vest in extra small short fit like it was tailor made for her. I have one for my lab that’s going on it’s third season so I’m confident this will hold up. It looks great on her too.

Good vest. Extra Small fits my 34lb cocker, Gus. Does not seem to bother Gus. The underside or black part of the vest is double ply the material, so it offers good protection from puncture. Gus is brown so he is hard to see unless there is snow on the ground. The orange is perfect. Also the vest is cut in such a way that allows Gus (male) to pee without getting his vest wet. I have seen other vests that cover or rub on the male dogs. All in all I look forward to using this vest this next season.

I have a comment on the design. The nylon straps should be sewn to the edge of the orange vest material. This will provide superior comfort for the dog and reduce the snagging potential. vest gaps a bit much in the top front of the chest. I have made a number of orders over the years and find your service very good. None better. Hunt 2 brittanies with numerous friends and family Jim

Bought the vest for my Boykin Spaniel for pheasant hunting as she gets full of burs and stickers. The season is over here but I did run her with the vest on a couple days ago. She's 35 lbs and a small fits well.

bought the vest to help keep an eye on my gsp in the woods and to protect him from old barb wire fencing and briars associated with running in the woods had no idea how much stuff he could get into until i saw the scars on the vest. Glad he wears it, it doesnt have any rips or tears and fits him well, even if he should get into something to sharp for the vest i'm glad its not his skin. Worth every penny to protect a member of our family
