Thought it was time to update my old SportDOG e-collar. For me there is no better place to get trustworthy information than Gun dog supply. I was open to a different brand but after going through reviews by Steve, I ended back up with SportDOG. I’m female with small hands so I love the small transmitter and easy to access buttons on the SportDOG SD-1825X Sport Hunter Remote Training Collar. I also purchased an add on collar. Switching between collars is a breeze and the options for setting up each collar is a big plus. I really like my new setup and can’t thank Steve enough for helping make the right choice!

I’ve owned a Sportdog collar since 2011 and used it every day running my dog and have never had a problem. Recently I misplaced the controller and ended up purchasing a new 1825x and trust that I will have many years of trouble free use. Great product and Gun Dog Supply is a great company to do business with. I appreciate the educational videos and the time Steve takes to review products so you know what you are getting before purchasing.

I recently got a Sportdog 1825X remote training collar. I like it for its ease of operation and great performance. I have used Sportdog products for years that I have gotten from Gundog supply and never had a problem. You can you can run multiple dogs and have a long reach since my dogs like to run out to about 350-400 yards depending on terrain.. It’s waterproof and pretty bomb proof. A lot of versatility and performance at a reasonable price.

I still have the previous model that my last dog wore for 12 years and it still works! I have a new dog now so I bought a new one for her. This newer model has upgrades yet is still simple to program and use. I wouldn’t be surprised if this new one lasts as long as the previous model.

This works great. I use it for 2 pointers who really like to run far. Even on lowest setting, it has excellent power and range. Gun Dog Supply has collars to match the colors I wanted, too. That way I never get the wrong collar on a dog. The only downside was I actually had to read the instruction manual to get it set up right.

I love your product! My only complaint would be is the instructions are a bit confusing. I understand it might be necessary due to the complexity of offering so many different levels of simulation yet, you consider simplifying them in a way old guys like me could do a better job at setting up our transmitters and receivers. So, I'll just call customer support!

Great remote for reinforcing training on my Airedale Terrier. I can be watching from inside the house and buzz him without going out to get a clear line. Perfect for on the farm. Simple to use with plenty of battery life before it needs to be recharged. Fits in my hand very well.

We own a 6 month old black lab that now tops 65 pounds. He is sweet but at times wants to travel away from me to explore the new surroundings while carrying his dummy. One nick with collar at level 2 he quickly responds to my voice and hand signal commands. Our ease of learning use of the e-collar and durability of use on water or land is 5 star.

This collar is amazing! I've only been using it for about 2 weeks and I already see a difference in off leash obedience. My dog comes when called off leash for the first time. The training resources that come with this collar are great, too. Can't wait to see what we accomplish with this collar.

Switched to Sportdog after 32 yrs training retrievers & only using Tritronics. What sold me on Sportdog? Advice from a friend that's been training for 20+ yrs & using Sportdog collars for many of them. He swears by their reliability AND the fact that battery replacements are - and I assume, will be - available for many years after collar purchase. Tritronics always failed to support their product after just a few years - I have 3 working condition collars that only need batteries.

This is my second one of this model. The first went 11 years before dying. My dogs go to work with me almost daily and I hunt upland birds thru the season so this unit gets plenty of use. I used tritonics in years past and went to this Model due to size 11 years ago. It worked so well for me with 2 dogs that I didn't even look at other brands this time

Just recently started with the training and so far it is going well and easy to use

I have used a few of the e-collars in this line from sport dog and the 1825 is by far the most versatile. The other collars are great collars, but they can leave you wanting more. The 1825 has more features than I could use and allows more customization for my dog.

Hello my name is Chris and my dog is Daisy Bear she is a 75 pound Husky/Lab and German Shepard mix and just turned 1 year old. I have had a hard time training her with pulling on the leash, I mean Daisy pulled so hard that she almost broke my wife’s hand when my wife went to take Daisy on a walk and pulled my wife out the door. We tried leads that squeeze the chest if thy pull to hard, did not work!! We tried I no pull pinch collar, again did nothing so I sed what the hell and sed let’s try the SportDog SD-1825X and I can not believe the difference in behavior!!!!!!! It took 1 day of caller training after watching the training video for my Daisy Bear to learn come, heal and sit. Daisy is now a dog my 8 year old daughter can walk and not feel scared of daisy dragging my little girl away!! I can not express how truly happy I am with this product the SportDog SD-1825X Its the best training tool out there. Just to be clear I have put the collar on myself and tested it on my self from the lowest setting to the highest setting before I put it on my dog 100% safe and effective. I have had one for almost nine years and have had no problems. I run two collars and it has been great. My son just got a pup so I bought one for him.

The product was a gift to my niece and she loves it. The company service on the phone was like talking to a family.

Quite a few years back I had a sportdog (equivalent of the 425 wetlands-maybe was the same name) that I was disappointed with. It seemed like it had a range of about 40 feet and the stim level was not effective. I went to a Dogtra after that and was content. Anyways, my dog had since passed and I finally was able to jump back in and get a new pup. I decided to go back to sportdog and so far very pleased. This unit has a great number of program options and features. It seems comfortable for him to have on, more so than the Dogtra. I primarily focus on waterfowl so I do not know what this would be like with multiple collars, dogs,etc. but for my purposes it has proven to be a good purchase. Only time will tell for longevity. I do wish they would provide two collars for the receiver though. Pups grow up to become big dogs and if you trim it for a younger one, you are going to be replacing it when they get older or you will have to leave it flapping about when a smaller size. I bought a second one at the time I purchased this.

Great collar. It has helped our training immensely. We have never run out of range. Just remember to screw the antenna in well. I lost mine after a few weeks of use. Good thing there are replacement parts!

This is the second one I have purchased. They are simple and reliable with excellent range. Highly recommend to the upland hunter who hunts with a flusher. The beeper feature really keeps my dog under great control in the field.

I have only owned the collar for about a month, but I can see its potential. It is a high quality piece of equipment with LOTS of options. My dog is sensitive, and I wanted a lot of options to try. The training book / DVD are very helpful, and I constantly remind myself to take it slow and train my dog with one task at a time. When you see that 'light bulb' moment in your dog you feel confident in the collar's potential. I think the key to the success in these collars is making sure your dog understands the command first, and then you condition the dog to the cue on the collar to perform the command. It takes time and patience and like the book says, 'mistakes will be made.' I have yet to verify the range of the collar. I'm going to make my husband wear it and run off into the woods. My purpose in buying the collar was to gain better control of my dog on recall. She ran off into the road and doesn't know when to stop chasing squirrels or rabbits. I'm finding the threshold point to get her attention and recall. With no distractions she will come back to me and sit using the tone or vibration only. More training and practice is needed, but I am learning how to properly use the collar and train my dog to come home to mama!

Good product, high in functionality. 1 through 8 on the intensity scale is much easier than going between a 113 or a 127 like the other brands. The shape of the transmitter allows it to fit well enough in my hand that I can cast a dog while holding it. Battery life of the receiver seems to be pretty good as well.

Fantastic product. The bonus video included in the sale from Gun Dog Supply's makes all the difference in the world.

Great for field work. We have 20 acres for the dogs to roam and this collar can cover this distance and more!

It is absolutely unbelievable how well this collar has worked. Our dog was a runner. She would come when you called her, but only when she was in sight of you. Once she would bolt, we wouldn't see her again for hours. She also couldn't stop jumping up on people (not mean, just excited). Literally, within one day of work, she's a whole new dog. We can let her out by herself now, and she knows exactly where her boundaries are. The way she acts, you'd think we got an electric fence. It's absolutely amazing. We can also walk her off leash without fear of her bolting. The jumping up is 90% fixed. She still jumps on certain people, but she's still a puppy, so we're sure she will calm down pretty soon. For range, the furthest she's gotten is about a half mile, and the collar worked. We live in a fairly wooded area. If there were 10 stars, this collar would get 11!!!

I didn't know which collar to buy but Steve advised me AND suggested a cheaper model. At first it was total chaos with my dog but then I realized I had not made it tight enough. After that it was incredible. Two low-level zaps followed by a beep and now she obeys with the warning beep only. So far I have used it at 300 yards with no problem. 600 line-of-sight. Thank you, Steve. Piece of mind has no price.

It has been working great for both of our dogs.

Read the instructions carefully, you may cause the animal confusion or pain if you don't. The 1825 does not use the toggle switch to increase pressure level. It is to switch between dog 1 or dog 2. Make sure your collar is set to Orange (low) first. The power button on the collar is very stiff the first time you use it. I recommend using a pencil eraser end to turn on the unit the first few times. Its a great unit since I have worked through these challenges and customer support was very willing to help. I would purchase this unit again and recommend it to others.

Steve gave a great recommendation when he suggested the Sportdog 1825. Turns out my dog is quite sensitive to stimulation. I ended up with the receiver on the lowest setting and the transmitter on 2 or 3. Dog vocalizes at 4 even when highly distracted. Love the wide range of customization (modes) on the transmitter. I been using vibration and the sixteen continuous stimulation mode as the dog response is very much influenced by how much he is distracted. After a week of use the dog responds in the field 80 to 90% without out any stimulation. Usually use vibration, occasionally level 3 when he is far out on a deer trail. Prior to collar use he was completely running wild on deer tracks. Great product, great advice from GDS!

Very versatile with many possible settings. The only minor setting option I'd like to see with the three buttons with one dog is tone, vibration, stimulation. But that is not available. The fast charge is great as is the charge stand. Much less chance of getting water into the collar with the sealed charging feature. The plastic collar is too stiff and hard to attach. After the first try, it was replaced with 3/4 inch heavy nylon webbing and a YKK plastic quick attach buckle. Works quite well now.

Best feature is the ability to use 1 transmitter on 2 receiver for multi-dog owner. Don't have to sacrifice button functions like the SD-425. Also, the 1-mile range is a big plus.

The Sport Hunter SD 1825 works great. I had my doubts that anything would stop my dog from chasing prey. I have tried other collars without success. This collar stopped him the first time out. Love it!

Excellent unit for ergonomics and size. I had to get use to turning the collar on correctly, but I like the unit. The SportDog personnel were very helpful. Would buy from them again.

The entire package provides you with all the tools you need to effectively train your dog to perform everything from the basic commands to hunting, working, etc. The change in behavior was immediate. Now I feel I'm getting all my dog has to offer in performance and a solution for previous poor actions and behaviors. Very satisfied with both the SD-1825 and the Customer Service from Gun Dog Supply.

Happy with quality of product, working great, and making a world of difference with training. Just one side-note in case others like me don't read all the instructions: at first I just had the remote loose in the pouch provided, which I attached to my belt, but sometimes when I bent over the remote would slip out. Then after a week I realized there was an attachment clip to put on the remote, so you can clip it to the pouch or right to your belt, or to the lanyard. I'm still experimenting on what's best way to carry it.

Steve thought the Tri Tronics might be a little too powerful, so I bought the SportDog SD-1825. It works well around my city lot. I have not been able to get out into long range yet. The dog is 75 pounds, so I think the Tri Tronics would have been OK as my old one worked well for the weimaraner. But the SportDog works well, and the smaller control is great, as I can stuff it in a pocket. Service was great on Gun Dog Supply's part. I could have bought it from other sources, but why when you can buy from folks that actually have working dogs and use the products they sell. I am happy.
