This is my first E-Collar, for my first retriever. I wanted to be able to navigate back to the truck/boat, as well as locate my dog if need be. Takes up to 7 minutes to find a satelite and connect to collar. Still learni g the fuctionality, as well as my dogs working levels. Well made, just a bit big for what it does in my opinion. Would buy again.

garmin handheld takes a normal amount of time to acquire gps signals however it takes forever to connect gps signal of collar. Holds signal well once connected. I would suggest getting a cup of coffee while waiting for handheld and collar to communicate with gps signal. tone, vibrate side of collar access is virtually immediate

Works great on smaller Britany

This was exactly as described. Worked perfectly even for my 11 week old pointer.

We hunt some thick stuff up here in Montana and knowing where my dog is when out of sight is a real advantage .My only regret is I didn’t get one of these when I got my lab to start with, very easy to use and her response to the tone feature is much better on this model than the lower priced one I previously was using. I do wish that a good quality lanyard was included .

I just purchased this unit with enough time to figure it out and then hunt for 6 consecutive days on both waterfowl and upland game. I was used to the old Tri-Tronics devices and this worked about the same when it came to the training part. My dog figured out the beep and I rarely had to move to anything else unless she was really distracted. The GPS feature is enough to let you know where the dog is, but at times it was off in both direction and distance. I calibrated the handheld each day and sometimes multiple times when I saw it was off. Several times the north indicator was off as well. All that said, I get how GPS works and for what I needed, it worked well. Not perfect. Just well. I could tell if my dog was ranging away or back toward me and in general where she was. She is a 13 month old lab and did a great job on her first hunting with 5-6 duck retrieves each day and multiple pheasants flushed each day. In my research, this was the best GPS and Training collar for the price. I am not a fan of the wire antenna on it, but it is what it is, and it does work well.

We adopted a young Plott Hound and needed a new collar to replace an older training-only collar we used with our previous Walker. The old collar did not have GPS tracking capabilities, and that was something I really wanted in a new one. I did a lot of reading and research on many different brands and models, along with cost vs. features. The Garmin Pro-550 Plus checked all the boxes for what I was looking for, and the videos and reviews provided on the website were absolutely wonderful. Having had the Pro-550 Plus and TT25 collar for a while now, I am very happy with it. Setting it up was not too much of a hassle and once the devices are paired, communication between the handheld and collar has been flawless so far. The controls for correction are easy to use and adjust. For the GPS/tracking side, it is a simple tracker with a directional arrow to follow. Acquiring GPS location is sometimes fast and sometimes takes a few minutes. Direction and distance are not 100-percent accurate and can bounce around quite a bit, but good enough to locate my dog easily. Overall, I am very happy with the Garmin Pro-550 Plus and TT25 collar combination.

Great collar and wonderful.service

First trip out was South Dakota pheasant hunting with a group of ten. The ability to know where your dog was at all times is fantastic. Being able to tell the other guys my dog was on point near them was fantastic. The thick cover that makes the dog disappear within feet, is revealed with the garmin pro 550+ Best purchase I’ve made for the security of my dog. No more yelling for a dog you can’t see in the thick cover.

The decision to buy the PRO 550 Plus and TT25 was a good one. I did my research, every feature of the product works perfectly, and Gun Dog Supply answered a couple of questions very quickly. All in all, this was a good purchase. Garmin's instructions are severely lacking. Having never used a device like this, it took me days of trying to find a tutorial without success, and then another couple of days of experimenting to learn how to make it all work finally.

I settled on this unit after hours of research, and talking with friends that have used many various makes and models. Most influential was Steve's Gundog Supply video. 5 stars for both the Garmin unit and Gundog Supply for ease of purchase and excellent customer service.

When training, timing is so important. With this set up , I can concentrate on training/ correcting my dog without the distraction of dealing with more information and controls than I need. I can easily switch between modes and multiple collars. My dog hunts fairly close so I don’t need the mapping feature.But it is handy knowing how far and which direction he’s working when he’s out of sight. Also alerts when he’s on point.

I traded up for a 550 to the plus for the tracking capability. It’s a little slow to update on the position of your dog is moving fast but it will keep you close enough. I use it with a waterfowl retriever. It just gives me piece of mind if I let my dog chase a cripple out of sight when hunting the timber or other heavy cover. A long time ago a hunting partner lost his dog that way. I see some people complaining about the antenna length. I run the antenna through the collar buckle that keeps it from flopping around. My only complaint is that the time button isn’t loud enough. I use the tone to call my dog back in at long distances. If he is running in water he don’t hear it.

Great GPS and Training collar. Have had my original Pro 550 for 10+ years and still works great. This purchase was a gift for my son. Gun Dog Supply personnel are very helpful and professional.

The Garmin plus 550 with the Tt15x collar is all that Garmin said it was. Easy to set up and easy to use. My dog cain’t wait to have the collar put on and get to work. He went from watching him run in the woods to a good hunting companion. Thank you Gun Dog Supply and Garmin.

Gundog supply was a great resource to both educate myself on what product would work for me and ordering. It was the best price I found and I recieved the item quicker than expected. I've found this website to be the go to place for supplies for my new upland pup.

I recently purchased the Garmin Pro 550 Plus and TT15X for my Brittany and the system is a game changer! I had used another brand’s training and beeper collar, but the Pro 550 Plus has the functionality of a training collar for quick correction and provides immediate location data without listening for the beep. The receiver vibrates when she’s on point, and gives me her exact location. Finding my dog in heavy cover when she’s on point without the beeping that can spook late-season roosters has meant more birds in my game bag. It’s easy to set up, easy to use, and just what I was looking for. The added bonus is a quiet hunt in the field, enjoying time with my friends and my dog.

This combo is a perfect, no frills, gps collar for my dog. When out hunting birds I wouldn’t have time to look at a screen with a map…just direction and distance is all I need. The handheld device also tells me when my dog is on point. I would recommend this product and would recommend Gun Dog Supply.

simple easy to use gps tracking system--great options. lights come in handy when dark. easy to use STIM buttons.. wish remote beeper option was available. will buy a spare STIM collar in the future

Great product, having confidence knowing where my dog is in deep cover while being able to correct unwanted actions.

This replaces another collar that required a smart phone app to monitor and send corrections making it difficult to send quick corrections. The 550 plus has everything I need right at my fingertips for a quick correction plus a simple screen with GPS direction and distance to my dog. The correction buttons took some getting used to since they are not labeled and the instructions are poor. However, Garmin support was great and they sent me an email with better instructions on what each button does, specifically on how to achieve high, medium, and low correction for each dial position.

It's been in the field. And I love it in the heavy cover. It's a game changer.

Manual and YouTube shows no detail. I'm left to guess. When I first operated I didn't know you don't have to pair collar each time. Nothing tells us about how to turn on controller, long press on switch, sort press, momentary switch? So, you don't know when to stop pressing button. Needs idiots guide, but I guess it's too much to ask idiots to write that.

I had hoped that the tracking would be a little more accurate between the Pro 550 plus and tracking collar. The TT25 is too large for my small French Brittany. Hoping Garmin brings back the TT15

This collar does exactly what I need. Dog location, distance and the ability to correct in a simple to use platform. Will be buying 2 more collars to complete it.

Works better than I thought.

It’s been great for both training and keeping track of the dog in thick cover. I will definitely keep using this and plan on getting a second collar when I get my next dog. Great piece of mind with the young pups.

I bought this collar for my Boykin Spaniel, because I lost him in the Cattails on a SD pheasant hunt. Took 1/2 hour to find him. The collar is great. Should’ve bought one a couple years ago. It works with my Garmin Instinct watch, but I prefer to look at the handheld. The collar has two different beeps, which are great for recall and Sit. The collar makes hunts more efficient. I have been able to stay ready by knowing the location of my dog without a bell. Easy to learn! Gun dog supply videos really help and other videos buy Garmin users. I can’t wait to get another dog!

Started off rough as the GPS didn't seem to give accurate distance. The tech support at Gun Dog was excellent! Turned out the handheld and collar needed a software update which was simple. Took my GSP out hunting and the collar/GPS worked perfect.

Perfect solution for a guide who needs to control and keep up with his dog, without lots of bells and whistles.

With bird dog I need training first tracking second. If I have to take time to change screens to discipline my dog it's to late, they don't know what they are being discipline for.

First time using this type of device and I love it. Training a new puppy for hunting and he’s getting along just fine.

I was telling a fellow shooter at the gun club about my desire to purchase a GPS collar setup for my Llewellin setter. I told him that I really didn't care for the complicated menus etc of the transmitters I had looked at. He showed me his Garmin PRO 550 PLUS MINI and demonstrated how simple the unit was to use and read. The GPS information was exactly what I was looking for; an arrow indicating which direction the dog is and the distance in feet or yards, also lets you know if the dog is stopped (on point). That's all I want or need to know for my purposes and the Garmin does that well. With all the other standard training features such as tone, vibration, momentary & continuous stimulation in varying levels along with a set of LED lights on the front of the collar, this setup has everything I need. My setter is 46 lbs and the mini collar fits and functions perfectly. Also, consider getting the Gun Dog Supply Cardura nylon transmitter holster with brass snap. It's the best accessory for securely keeping the handheld readily available for quick and easy access.

Bought the Garmin Pro 550 mini from Gun Dog Supply about two weeks ago. Used it on 5 upland bird hunting trips so far, for Sharptails, Grey Partridge and Pheasants. We have French Brittanys and so far it’s been a dream, easy to use and not too complicated. The tracking features are exactly what I need for hunting the prairies in Montana. I’ll buy another if the need arises. Thanks to GDS and Garmin

It works! Dogs position relative to mine and movements easliy and quickly assessed. Not perfect but definitely affective. Must have or I would be concerned about the whereabouts of my 8 month old Brittiny hunting dog even with the bells around his neck. The video is a plus. Overall 4.5.

Have had this e-collar/GPS unit for just short of a month now and have used it 4 times. It works as advertised and suits my needs well. Gives a good general direction and distance to the dog and the tone and vibrate work well. Haven't used the stimulation mode yet as there hasn't been a situation needing it. I would give 5 stars except I haven't been using it long and haven't been in hunting situations yet as out seasons are not open currently.

I bought this gps unit/ collar in anticipation of a hunting trip out of state. However in using it for a few weeks just working the dog in cover, it really gives me peace of mind. I can’t always see the dog in heavy cover. Or hear her, despite paging her. Finally I can tell at a glance her distance and direction. I only gave four stars because it’s only been a few weeks and certainly not an inexpensive product, so I expect longevity too. Would definitely recommend.

I love the simplicity of the unit. Gives you everything you need without the complexity of the Astro.

Wish it came with a printed copy of the manual. It would be helpful to learn how to use it since this is the first training and/or gps collar that I have ever used. Where I hunt and train there is no cell service to look up the manual. The collar itself works great for my pointing dog. It gives me great peace of mind when out in the field. Other than that it is a great collar. Wish it came with a lanyard, I ended up making one.

Good solid training device. Works as advertised. Like the vibrate and light functions.

Great product for training. Quick to change from dog to dog without having to look at a screen. However can’t see screen after dark. Glad I have it for daytime training. I have the alpha 100 as well It’s just not as quick or handy for training work

So glad I got this for our Kansas trip. Always knew where he was and he was always in range of the unit. I would have been a wreck without it.

I have used this with my 6 month old GSP who loves to track and point in the dense underbrush in the woods of New England. The collar lets me know when she is stopped and on point or moving and what direction I need to follow. Couldn’t be happier.

The 550 Pro Plus is a great addition to my hunting gear. My two Wirehaired Pointing Griffons and I hunt from the Dakota's west and south to Nevada. I have used an Alpha 100 for the first 4 years with my dogs. It worked well but required too much visual and dexteral interaction. Along comes the 550 Pro Plus and I snap it up. Much easier to use without taking my eyes of the prey or the dogs. I still carry my Alpha to get the detail i need from the onxhunt maps if nothing less than for safety when the Griffs are out of sight. Having a spare collar that came with the 550 is an asset. I only have one complaint, so see my cons.

Couldn’t be more pleased with the e-collar and GPS function. Simpler is better.
